I have a 1300 mile road trip next week. I have the FP ProCal Tune. I was thinking of setting the ProCal back to stock for the trip. Does anyone know if I could drop back to 89 octane or should I stay with the 93.
Thanks All.

Just stay with the 91/93 octane. It's not that much more expensive and it's better for turbo engines. And...testing shows that you get better MPG with higher octane and engines designed to use it. More efficient burn.

I heard or maybe read that you get better mpgs while on the tune. Is that right?

I think some folks have done some before/after videos and reported what you're saying.

I hear what you’re all throwing down. I might save $50 on the gas and then lose 1/2 that on shitty mpg. And to top it all off I’m going to possibly put more wear & tear on my truck.
Thank all.

Why would you roll back the tune? What would you possibly achieve and why did you ever get the tune?
As far as fuel I always used 93 octane even before my tune because ANY turbocharged engine will run better with higher octane. As a matter of fact, you will most likely get better mileage as well running higher octane.

As far as mileage increase goes, I can tell you around town with the Tune, MPG is no better and likely a little worse. I average about 13 in the city keeping my foot mostly out of it. Course, I am a "red light" magnet, so your mileage may vary.

I originally thought if I was going to drive 1300 miles and return the truck to stock I might (a big might) save some gas money driving down the road with without the tune on the truck. With the ProCal you can switch the truck between stock and performance. The first few responses convinced me it was a bad idea. Everyone else has already said what you did. So as I said just before your response I was not going to do that, but thanks for the response anyway.

Your better off putting a tonneau cover on to save fuel, and lighter wheels help a bit in stop and go traffic.

Last summer I got 20.9 mpg on 134 mile trip from OH to MI on my 2024 RR with FP Pro Cal. Stock tires, at the time stock wheels (now on method 705s).

I bought a worksport AL4 trifold tonneau and it helped with highway gas mileage pending no head wind (which always kills your mileage in trucks).

The tail gate is almost 60 inches wide (its 48 in between the weel wells in the bed and fenders are at least 6in wide each) and im guessing bed is around 16 in deep, so thats about a 7 sq ft air brake!

so posts here and other places state bumping to premium gets you to 330 stock HP, so gain of 15HP for the cost of gas, with no mods on the 2.7. Seems the easiest way to go since most tunes don't get you much more and you are usually forced to use premium?

The OP has a Ranger Raptor with 405 HP stock on the 3.0L. With the Pro Cal its 455 HP and +106 more lb-ft of torque....thats a significant difference. And to make 405 HP stock you need premium anyway, so why not jist give up anything below 91?

Thats the point of the Pro Cal, its what the 3.0L EB can safely make if it was tuned for premium only like true performance vehicles (i.e., GT350, Corvette, BMW M3 etc.).

The Pro Cal for the 2.7L gets you from 315 to 350 HP, so even on the wortruck variant TT V6 ecoboost, its significant.

Premium fuel nets you 330 HP stock, so the tune only nets you 20 additional HP. Hardly worth the cost.
It's the same 2.7 with the same tuning as the Bronco 2.7. They just rate it based on premium fuel.
