Is there a better protective cover for the back of the back seat when you have it laying down? I wish the back was a hard cover vs the soft felt-like material. I like to lay it down when I'm carrying stuff inside the cab as I don't want to ruin the leather seats, but I'm worried about tearing up the back of the seat.

I just pull it to the side(drivers side) and it all but disappears when I put the seat down, it ya it’s ridiculous they didn’t include a disconnect

You could also get one of the pet carrier hammocks. I have one in my SUV that works not only for the dog, but protects the leather as well. Waterproof, so that is nice. Since it hooks on the front headrests, it also protects against things flying into the front in the event of an emergency braking situation. You can unhook it and fold it up if needed to carry a passenger back there. Cheaper than a cargo mat option. Cheapest are like $25, and you can get one with a hard bottom for around $100. Just a thought. Check Amazon for options.

Now (october 2025) there is a rubber mat for the back of the rear seats in Amazon. I will buy it, and have it sewn some velcros so it sticks firm.

Hope this helps from a year ago.

This looks pretty neat; I've just been using a moving blanket from harbor freight when I fold my seat down and this is obviously better protection. Does it attach to the back of the seat permanently, or do I have to store it when the seat is folded up? The one photo seems to indicate that it stays in place when the seat is up, but I'm not sure.

As for the seatbelt that has been mentioned, I bought a plastic clip that attaches to the back wall, and when I fold the seat down I just slide the belt into the clip to keep the belt flat against the seat back (then I put the moving blanket over it).

Just buy some velcro by the yard, measure all around and add some for the center.

IF POSSIBLE have a less aggresive velcro if you ever plan to remove it. Test it out.

I have a CRV whose rear seat is always down and with a similar mat. My dog comes to work on it EVERY DAY. Its absolutely great. Cleans with vac and a wet rag. Yeiii

Can't believe Ford doesn't include something like this, or even offer one to buy!

Did you guys buy this one? How was the install? Any pics of the final result?
