Just like the S&B the clear top is just not installed so you can see the filter in the Ad!It doesn't take a genius to see that the hood does not close against the opening on this particular CAI. CAI systems that seal against the hood have a compression seal around the opening.
You didn't even bother to take a minute to look at the link did you? There is no lid.Just like the S&B the clear top is just not installed so you can see the filter in the Ad!
Iām curious if there would be any HP increase with the tune already installed. More air canāt hurt. I looked on the bronco forum for any dynos with the combo installed but didnāt see anything.Wonder if the 27hp would be added to a V6 with Ford Performance Tune on it!
If that's true (it's not) then why not just design it with a cover? That's a more reliable "seal" than hoping the hood covers it. Fluid flow follows the path of least resistance. This CAI is just going to suck hot air in from the engine compartment and mostly ignore the narrow cold air runner coming in from the grill. The hood closes against that geniusā¦
That thing isn't making anywhere near that
I personally don't see anything positive about this intake. Definitely going to be sucking. Extremely hot air seeing it's cooped up in there with two turbochargers. If that's true (it's not) then why not just design it with a cover? This thread is full of pseudo-science, engineering nonsense tbh. I say this as someone who's studied fluid dynamics and did CFD finite element analysis as part of their job.
At least the thread has been entertaining.![]()
I was literally told by k&n that the hood does not seal the enclosure and that it does take in air from the engine bay. Maybe it was a misinformed customer service agent but thatās from the horses mouth. I wanted to buy one until they told me that.Iād watch the hearsay if I were you. The K&N CAI most certainly does not take air from inside the engine bay!
I've used a K&N air filter for 230K miles on my daily driver. No issues, no blow by, car runs almost like new. Last vehicle had 330K miles with a K&N when I got rid of it. I buy all my cars new so I know the complete maintenance history. Cars started new with K&N.Go to their website and see if they give specs on the filter media. (They try to hide it as much as they can)
I know S&B does and the oiled gauze type actually filters less dirt than OEM and the dry filter type filters slightly better than OEM.
So basically you are sucking in more dirt than stock if you take it offroad.

Wondering, did you drive it offroad? In very dusty conditions?I've used a K&N air filter for 230K miles on my daily driver. No issues, no blow by, car runs almost like new. I'll go by my own experience over all these biased studies.
Brother theres literally pics of people with it installed in this thread and no one has a lid lolJust like the S&B the clear top is just not installed so you can see the filter in the Ad!
Did not drive off road but drove on many dirt country roads and do travel through many dusty construction areas on a routine basis. I find a fair amount of sand and grit in filter box and in filter.Wondering, did you drive it offroad? In very dusty conditions?
