Security screws for taillights?

After reading the 5G forum for security screws and taillight theft, I ordered a set of #14 screws for my ‘25 Lariat. Found they don’t fit; the stock bolt holes are too narrow. Anyone find some or know the # size that fit? Preferably on Amazon (Canadian here).

I mean you have to put then tail gate down to get to those screws. Shouldn't a locked tailgate take care of this?

Added bonus for a tonneau cover.

But I am almost certain they are metric screws like every other fastener in the truck and machine screws, not sheet metal as I recall.

from the photos of the guy the theft happened to, they popped in the lock/handle on the back of the tailgate and use a screwdriver to open the mechanism; tonneau or not. No garage here unfortunately but I figure any attempt as small as a security screw is a good preventative measure. If they really want them, they’ll get them but they’ll have to work for it. I’ll look into the metric screws, thanks.

The tail lights are fastened on the 6G trucks with M6x1.0 threaded fasteners. You could get the same security Torx drive on an appropriate fastener and that would work for you.

I forgot to mention, if you go with these screws, do not use an impact driver on them. Hand tighten and loosen only. You will break the small tabs of the driver bit with an impact driver.

You would have to be a idiot to use a impact driver on taillight screws but hey the idiots are still out there

Buy the driver from FMW along with the screws. I think it's a #14.

center punch or small flat head screwdriver and a hammer, knocks the pin out, and you can use a standard torx bit then. after doing it before when I snapped my security torx bit on a rusty bolt. was able to get it out a full torx bit. you want speciality security bolts, that canadian tire or princessauto doesnt carry the exact bit/tool needed to get them out. lol
