A little back story.....
I am 20 years old currently in college with 2 vehicles already, 2023 Honda civic sport 2.0L NA and 2003 Jeep WJ 4.0L. I really want a Ranger Raptor and think they look amazing and look like a ton of fun. I just want some opinions of the ranger raptor would be a good next car or something like an F150 Tremor would be a good option. I really do like the Ranger Raptor but I live in Scranton PA where there aren't that many trails and I wouldn't want to take it rock crawling or get the painted scratched because I already have a Jeep.

Mainly looking for advice if I should get a ranger raptor or look for something else? I have time and wont make any decisions quick but i might have to say the Ranger Raptor is my dream. Thanks to whoever responds! :)

I would focus on finishing college then saving for a house. It sounds like you have plenty of transportation and spending $57K on a truck is probably not wise. Pay off your debts and start saving. If you parents are rich and are going to buy it for you, heck yeah, it's a super fun vehicle.

Yes I think you right. It is really nice but I’m not really goign to use it for what it’s made for. The 60k would come all out of my pockets lol. And student debt is more than the truck. It’s likely an in the future decision when I have more money and a full time job. I’m only 20 I got time. Thanks for the response!

It would be wise for you to wait. One other comment I have is that a majority of RR owners will never use it for "what it's made for" including myself. it's a hoot to drive and I enjoy the heck out of it. Probably the best bang for buck out right now.

Thanks. That makes sense. I’ll have a ranger one day. Just not now lol!

My advice is live frugally. Save money. It’s a lot easier to do that when you are 20.

pay off your debt. Start saving for your dream.

good luck!

My rule: Don't buy a luxury if you can't write a check for two of them at once.

That said, one must get the stupid out of his system early, in life. Later, it becomes less possible. 🤣

As a southern Pennsylvania guy. Stay in school and finish it. Save money for things after college. If you want to take a long weekend trip with the Jeep. Check out

They also have a Raptor area to play around in. I went with my brother and a few of his buddies in jeeps, it was a blast.

If gas mileage is a concern at all and most of your driving will be around town... figure on 13-15 MPG, and that's mostly keeping your foot out of it.

my parents always told me to try to live off 1/4 of your monthly pay.

thats very hard to do now days but if you try to live of half and use the other for savings, you learn that having the big house and top vehicle are not always the stuff you need.

if you live getting what you need, not what you want, when you get older, you can get anything you want.

you don't want to be a person with so much debt that you never can retire, or if you get in an accident and are out of work for any bit of time, you start losing cars and your house.

i was out of work because i was in the icu with covid for 10 or 11 days two years ago. i missed 5 weeks of work total. never fell behind on anything. that is the types of things you need to be ready for before you buy a fun truck like a RR or even a tremor f150. see if an stx 4x4 will work for you and you might be happier

Hi there, I live pretty close to you in Scott Twp.
I have a Ranger Raptor and love it. I have put over 8000 mile on it. I just got back from a 2500 mile road trip, and it performed perfectly.
I was quite a bit over 70 the whole trip and averaged over 18 mpg. Haven't done any rock crawls yet.
I have no regrets having it at all. I still bust a huge smile every time I look at it and a bigger one when I'm driving it. Good luck on your decision.

That is true. I really don't have a need for a truck or a RR lol. It would just be for a want. I'll likely wait. I got time. Thanks again

Thanks for the input. I am always on the lookout for them around and I only see a dark green RR that is beautiful. I won't be getting one soon I think but maybe in a few years after college. Thanks again!
