I had a friend who worked at a Dodge dealer and he told me stories of people getting upset because their car had to wait for warranty to be done first. He told me warranty work always get a priority. Plus, warranty work is billable work to the manufacturer.

Maybe that has changed and Ford sets warranty aside like you said
It's because Ford sets the number of hours it will pay for the work to be done. If they pay 2 hours, but it takes 4 hours, the dealer 'loses' money. Of course, dealers won't complain if Ford pays 4 hours, but it only takes 2.

Indeed, Ford pays next to nothing on warranty work, sets low hours to pay as well, so it usually gets side lined, unless ifs major like a motor or trans, but this little stuff, yup gets pushed back.

I just got off the phone with the dealership I purchased my Raptor from. The Service Dept. tells me the parts are 2 months out. I'm some what disappointed that Safety Recalls would be sent out while parts are so back ordered. With the type of issue and the chance of unexpected airbag inflation I would think the liability would be a driving factor in getting parts to dealerships. Very disappointing.

I would call a different dealer; I am not aware of any parts backorders as my dealer has them in stock!

Yeah, might have to do that. Problem is the closest dealer is an hour away and is even smaller than the dealership in my town.

Come to think of it, there is another larger dealership 1-1/2 hours away. Guess I'll be on the phone today.

what you can do is call one of the other two and see if they have the part in stock, if so, they can do a dealer to dealer transfer sometimes. worth a shot.

I called the Ford Dealer in Payson, AZ. They are about an hour 1-1/2 away. They also have to order the part/s, but it is a 3 week lead-time from Kansas. Order will be placed today and on Monday the Parts Dept. will start looking for the part at Phoenix dealers. Oh, and the Service Dept. is familiar with the work required.

I had my dealer do this ( and the window one) while I had it in for the 20k service. I can't tell that they did anything, so I have no complaints.

That's great! I hope to be as lucky. I will report back.

I had an oil change a little over a week ago, also had the dealer shop look into creaking coming from by driver seat. Went ahead and had them do the recall as well.

I've given a shout out to this dealer's shop in past, going to do it again: Jarrett-Scott Ford Plant City, FL. They have one tech assigned to do all of the side air bag recalls, they have them assigned as the first job in the mornings to be sure, "our tech's hands are clean so no hand prints left behind". I gotta say, it's not possible to tell anything was touched. No loose trim, no problem retention tabs, no creased trim parts, a spotless job.

Have not done mine yet, only reason is my local dealer is not my favorite place. I went 2 hours away because my local was rude and sucked even last time I took in for that last recall I had a headache with them so I'm really kinda just stuck.

I got mine done two weeks ago. I dropped it off at 7am for oil change, 10k maintenance and the side curtain. Got a call at 9:30am it was ready for pickup. No issues. The tech said he had done a few of these and they take about an hour‘ish.

Is anyone still holding off on getting the Side Curtain Recall done for fear of the tech damaging the plastics and headliner? My dealer keeps contacting me to get it done but I'm not confident that it will be done neatly and without damage.
For those that have had it done how did it go?
I experienced some minor damage. Figured better chance and live with slight cosmetic damage to interior trim rather than have something worse happen to me in a crash

IIRC, it's not "chance of unexpected airbag inflation". It's a chance of the air bag being ripped open IF it does deploy.
