Sorry for the book, and I'll be attempting this shortly when truck cools off a bit. but april 23rd when I was the dealer, I grabbed a filter. my cousin not thinking(works in the parts dept) got me a filter for my old 12 escape.... drained all the oil took the filter off, new filter wouldnt screw on.... lol put old filter back on. top off with royal purple, beat it out to the dealer 20mins away with 25mins till closing.... go get new filter.

letting truck cool off for 20mins or so before I jack up the driver side and try to take off the old filter and put new on. but has anyone ever done this before?

and I will update if successful. lol

I would guess that you let the old oil drain out of the old filter so you would limit the mix with your new RP if so that's not to bad, i can't imagine anything bad happening except your new RP may look a little discolored on the dipstick from what was remaining in that filter.
And since you put very minimal miles and you have that new filter on now other than the 'cringe' factor of the mishap you'll be fine, your motor too

for some reason I cant attach pictures for few days now(can wait 20mins still says they are uploadi g when I try and comment). but yupp. old filter was draining for good 10mins before i put it back on. lol

jacked her up on my extended reach low pro jack, and went in through wheelwell and swapped them. lost what was in filter thats all. but the 1500kms conventional oil they had in it is gone now. lol minus what was in the filter media.

I was shocked how dark the oil went in 1580kms.... lol just had a tint of colour left. and oil life was at 89%

If this is your first change to RP you're still going to have old oil in the galleries.
Color will be mixed.
