Brand new, 500 miles. Making a right turn this morning (slowed down then made the turn, not from a dead stop) the truck died for a couple seconds. At first I thought the tranny got confused and was stuck in a dead zone in-between gears, but I remember the truck getting quiet, AC fan stopped blowing and the gas pedal had no input. Then after a couple seconds things returned normal.

Is this a known problem, or an old problem that was supposed to be addressed? Any others out there experience the same? Gotta say, a little nervous now pulling out, merging or crossing traffic and the truck dies.

Was it early enough in the morning that your headlights were on? I'm wondering if the cornering lamps caused some sort of electric short that stalled your engine.

Not the same vehicle, but this has happened to me in my F150 and a few F150 owners have mentioned this happen in that forum. I have no idea what causes it; no codes were reported the few times it has happened to me when I pulled them. I think it has to do something with traction control overstepping it's boundries and bogging down the power to eliminate wheelspin. It is the only thing that makes sense to me. I make a right turn and get on the gas because there is a vehicle coming, and the truck stalls tf out and I end up cutting the poor bastard off.

Basically exactly what happened to me, except nobody was cutoff. I sweep the right turn, give it throttle and .....nothing for 2-3 seconds.

I've had the pleasure many times of hitting the Limit switch on the steering wheel while turning which gives you the sudden death feel.

OP - Did the dash display do anything wierd? Reboot maybe?

Not sure all models have it, but there's a button on the left side of the wheel, it sets a speed limit, like a rev limiter. You hit the button at say 30 mph and then it tries to stop you from exceeding 30. Feels like the engine died....

You can power through it but it's quite unsettling.

Dealer won't find anything, but best to see if there were any codes. I'd suggest reporting to NHTSA. It's going to take someone getting hurt before Ford does anything. I've had the throttle input go dead for a couple seconds in a slow speed turn as well. Others have reported similar experiences.

Exact same thing happened twice with my ā€˜25 Ranger lariat. Engine stopped, then after 5-10 seconds restarted itself- both times while I was turning left (both times in heavy, oncoming traffic situations- I nearly pooped my pants.) Took it to the dealer. They wanted to keep it so they could ā€œrecreate the problem.ā€ It’s not like this is some weird noise that occasionally happens, this is the freaking engine turning itself off, and then back on while DRIVING, thereby creating a life threatening event. Why not just look for a cause? Anyway- they never could replicate the issue, so I took it home. Since it was errily similar to the auto stop/start feature that pops on at red lights that we all love so much, I started turning that sucker off first thing when I got in the truck. No more shut downs In traffic. After awhile I turned the auto stop/start back on, just to test if that was the issue, but it never did it again.
I really want to love this truck, but it has so many unexplained gremlins that I’m not sure I’m going to keep it. Lately after I turn the engine off and leave it for awhile, it tunes the radio off my XM channel and onto an empty AM space where only static lives. I randomly get two ā€œboingā€ sounds that indicate nothing-no messages, no warning lights- nothing. I also get random messages like, ā€œFront camera is not operational! Take in for service!ā€ But the front camera is working fine. I’m tempted to smear lamb’s blood on this truck and set it on fire.

Yes, I've experienced this several times with my 2024 XLT Sport 4x4. I'm not sure what's causing it, but it has only happened in the morning while making a slow right-hand turn. The engine will suddenly die, and then after a few seconds everything returns to normal as if nothing happened.

This might sound stupid but check that your battery terminals are tight. I’ve had this happen on an older car I owned, it was literally as simple as that. Considering the truck is new it’s possible they had the battery out for charging or replacement. Perhaps the tech forgot to tighten things down. Check your grounds as well.
