After all the mark up + tax title +license and finance, it's going to cost me over $70k. Should I even bother?
I drove 3 hours to Oklahoma City to get one in shelter green at MSRP. Dealers in my area either didn’t have the color, told me “I can sell this for 15k over MSRP all day long” - bratty “sales manager” son of the dealership owner of Grapevine Ford.

If it ain’t in your area, look a ways out and you may be surprised the deals you find

I smile when sales managers and salesmen who are trying to control the sales transaction tell you they can gouge you for more than MSRP and sell it all day long, yet there it is. Ask to see their paperwork when it was delivered and find out how long it has been sitting there. Usually it didn't arrive yesterday. Now you can tell them, "You know, I've been wondering why there has been a total eclipse of the sun over your dealership for weeks." I had one sales manager tell me just two years ago that worn out 1980s cliche " I'm gonna earn your business." So I told him to start earning it because he wasn't there yet, after trying to lowball my wife's trade by $2500.

Update: Just looked online at the 2025 RR at Grapevine Ford. These people need to be reported immediately to the Texas State Attorney General. They list the truck as Avalanche White, a 2026 color, when the window sticker says it is a 2025 Oxford White RR. False advertising is a Texas State crime under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act and if they did it knowingly, falls under the Texas Penal Code. Then they added $999 in a "Protection Package" and a $499 Lojack, none of which will increase your money at trade in. And then they have a $7500 Addendum. Total price for a $57,965 RR is $65,465, not including all the closing costs. These price gouging dealers are franchises and they are free to run them as they like when representing the Blue Oval and it's reputation. But nothing stops Texas customers from calling the AG and Ford and reporting them for price gouging, as well.

Picked up my 24 in Dec. 24 at the local (Valencia, Ca.) Autonation Ford deaker for MSRP. They started off with the $5k over bs and I told em I would by at MSRP right now or moving on. They went for it and I must say it was probably the easiest auto purchase I ever made, under 3hrs start to finish.

This is the exact issue I run into with every local dealer. start at 58k. end at 66k or so not including all the closing costs.

Do I walk? or pay the price?

Depends how desperate you are, especially when you can cut a deal out of State, have it shipped to your door, or go get it and drive it back, and still come out ahead financially. State sales tax is unavoidable, except if you live in Montana or other no tax States. I paid zero South Dakota sales tax and the Kansas personal property tax was the out the door price, less my trade, plus tags. Still came out ahead. Why did I not buy it here? Couldn't get the color and package. After two dealers and five months of trying unsuccessfully to get another dealer to trade with them while watching my 2021 F150 depreciate, and discovering the 2026 RR was not available in Red, and with the rebates, and help from cc1999 to find an acceptable Lariat, I bought it, cash. If I were you, I would walk and cut a deal out of State, making sure you tell the dealer there that you would buy right now at MSRP. But since they won't do that, the next time they see you will be when you drive up in your new RR to show them what you negotiated elsewhere. My guess is their RR will still be there.

You should be at 65k Max OTD in California. If that works for you, email every dealer that has one around you and say you're ready to come in tomorrow if we can do 65k otd. Go buy it at whichever agrees.

If 65k is outside of your budget, then look at another trim, another model or used.

Oh, McCormick Motors in Salem, SD, where I bought my Lariat just got in a 2025 RR in Shelter Green they are selling at MSRP. It has beadlock ready rims, so the MSRP is $60, 960. You are getting lots of advice on this thread, but my vote remains you buy out of State.

I bought mine at Galpin also (drove from murrieta in full cali traffic btw)...and yep pay the 10k or walk..I bought mine the day after the air bag recall went into affect thus leaving only three available raptors for sale in the state. I will say though I got the freshest RR out there at the time...mine was built august 12th and I bought it august 28th!..shocked to see how fast it got to the dealer after it was built and that also included factory Bedliner...bottom line is Galpin had one of three available and they knew it and I paid for it...that said Wifezilla and I did get a nice free steak dinner from them while we were waiting for the paperworks...man that place is BUSY
When did you guys buy yours? When I got mine A year ago I was pitting Galpin against Price, where I got it, and Galpin wanted an ADM but I got them to agree to MSRP. I took that to my dealer and they went MSRP (after supposedly calling Galpin to verify). Mine was the color I wanted which is why I didn’t go for the Galpin deal. But the one at Galpin was velocity blue which was my 2nd choice and an awesome color.

I bought mine in July 2025. I got mine for MSRP which was $57.5 K. (exactly how I wanted it) I also got them to add Ford rewards and a rubber bed mat with no add ons. Due to my trade in, I paid no sales tax. My total out the door was $58K and I had $45K in trade in value which amounted to a loan of $13K. Yes, it's about paid off.
