Today I purchased a 2025 Lariat with a 2.7l EB. MSRP was $52,420.00. The dealer took $5,000 off the MSRP plus added a $250 certificate discount and since my wife is in a Masters program at Auburn we were eligible for the $750 educational incentive. So $46,420 before tax and tags.

Waiting for my new Ruby Red 2.7 Lariat Adv Tow FX4 to be delivered still, but MSRP was $55375 with delivery. I didn't leave off too many options... With the $1000 military discount I ended up at $50, 499 (inc taxes) before trade in. Ended up financing $10009. I was happy.

For a non-raptor you should pay no more than 3 to 4% below dealer invoice less any rebates. Otherwise you are getting screwed.

Raptor retail or less.

I just got a 2025 XLT FX4 for $39,700. MSRP was $43-something I think.

They gave me $27k on my 2022 4x4 Lariat with 67k miles. I thought that was decent. It needed tires, brakes, and I owed $200 for the transmission deductible (it was being replaced) and the oil change/tire rotation I had done before I traded it, so I got out of $1500ish worth of expenses also.

Carvana was $25,800. Also, I was handcuffed a bit considering all the warranty issues I had that were on the vehicle history. I wouldn't buy it if I came across it. They just listed it for $33.5k and the vehicle history omits multiple service records. Good luck to em. Lots of new and used inventory on lots right now around me. I'd be surprised if they get $30k for it....maybe they're expecting price hikes.

What where your transmission issues?

What where your transmission issues?
Had the valve body and torque converter replaced under the TSB for the 10r80 at around 30K miles. Then the CDF drum was replaced seperately...step 2 of the same TSB. It ran ok, still didn't love the trans itself, then the issues popped back up about 30k miles later. Dealer said the codes indicated the valve body and torque converter needed to be replaced....when I reminded them they had done that 2 years ago, they went back and looked through the documentation...called me back and said they were going to replace the transmission.

At that point, and with 8k miles left in my warranty (which was already and fortunately extended to 75K by Ford after I had some nightmare electrical issues as soon as I got it home...that took 3 months and countless trips to the dealer to get fixed), I wanted to get out of it. That 10r80 sucks. There's an active class action in Canada and at least one brewing in the US.

I typically keep vehicles for 10+ years and 200k+ miles and I've never had ANY significant issue with ANY vehicle ever. But with 5 different warranty issues in the first 3 years and 70K miles, I damn sure wasn't comfortable expecting to get another 150K miles out of it without more issues.

I could've spent thousands to extend the warranty....but thought it was dumb to just prolong my issues with the truck. With 5 repairs in 70K miles, I'm sick of all the trips to the dealer - covered or not. I was able to get into a new (and very much improved) 2025 XLT with 0 miles, warranty to 150K, free oil changes/rotations/annual detailing for life, for under $20K out the door (plus my 22 needed tires, brakes, plus the trans deductible and oil change/rotation bill - so I got out of $1700ish in expenses also. Hated to spend the money, I did actually like the 2022 aside from the trans, but I feel like I'd be an idiot to think I wasn't going to have more problems with that truck.

I think it may have just been a factory dud. It was built in 2021 or 2022 post-covid but there were still supply and manufacturing issues.

However, after a week with the new truck and a 1200 mile trip to SC and back for a softball tournament, I'm over my saltiness. Lol. This truck is so much nicer than my 22 (which I pampered), I'm shocked. It feels better in every single way.

The only ding is the XLT radio sound is killing me - I'll definitely be upgrading speakers and adding a sub sooner than later. And I like leather, but I just ordered some seatcovers to protect the cloth. I'm a beach bum softball dad. My kids and I will destroy cloth with sand, infield dirt, sunscreen and sweat!!

Thanks for replying. It sounds like you could have used the lemon law and gotten Ford to take the truck back. At least you're in good shape now - but what a nightmare experience. I 'am not sure I would have gone for another Ford product after what you went through. Wishing you the best with your new 2025.
