How many of us renew the SiriusXM subscription?

I've never been a fan of satellite radio for a couple of reasons, but I don't exactly hate it either. I've historically felt that money is better spent for streaming music services that I can access and enjoy elsewhere, and the quality of the streams on SiriusXM is mediocre at best. For example, I've paid for Tidal and listen to it on my phone, in my car through carplay, at home through my Sonos speakers, or in my listening room through Roon and a dac.

With that said, I've actually been listening to a few of the Sirius stations in my ranger because it's convenient to have the stations in my radio presets, instead of going into carplay, launching tidal or apple music apps, and going from there. But to me it still sounds like I'm listening to low quality mp3's, but c'est la vie.

So as my free subscription will soon end I'm finding the marketing spam emails are increasing in frequency. I'm curious how many of us pay for SiriusXM? Of those who subscribe, are there perpetually "deals" to make it worth it? I've seen I think $2/mo for 3 months followed by $10/mo auto renew. Or maybe $5/mo for a year followed by auto-renew of $25/mo for all of their options. To me, $10/mo for their music isn't worth it, $2/mo is a no-brainer, $5/mo is a solid "maybe", but only until the promo runs out.

Nope. I've never subscribed to any satellite radio or audio streaming service. I have a household Emby media server that I can access and play all my movies, music, and audio books from anywhere I have wifi/phone signal access.

2 days before my $2 for 3 months ran out I got on Sirius chat via their website and told them to cancel my sub. I was then offered $6 a month for 12 months including access to ALL channels. YMMV. Whats nice is I get in on my phone too with the APP.

ive had siriusxm since 2013 when i used to travel nation wide. I love it. Wait for a 1 year sub deal then tell them you don't want it because its too much. They'll renew the deal constantly. Ive got mine for $99/year since the beginning

same concept as what i do. i get mine about $10/month. Not bad for being able to have hundreds of channels and the app for when i'm at work

So you can use their app to stream the service and get good quality for everything and all the same channels, if you want the content but don't like the satellite quality. It's included with a lot of their subscription tiers.

They also give it to you for dirty cheap every time you call to cancel it. The last time I called to cancel it they gave me Platinum for 12 months for $2 a month (which was the best deal I've ever been offered, usually it's a few months for free or $4 a month or something like that). I hold onto it for a few reasons - I go through a lot of areas every day without cellphone service and sometimes I am tired of listening to the same content I have downloaded on my phone or I will want to listen to Howard Stern, etc. I also use it frequently enough to listen to news channels and games, which I greatly appreciate having easy access to and it's the cheapest way to get a lot of that content.

I've never had Sirius and still get bombarded by e-mail specials.
I have had Pandora Plus for going on 10 years and locked at $3.99 per month. It works great for the 40-minute trip to work, and I can use it at work or home thru my PCs or on my phone.

When my trial ran out I did some digging and found a discount that was something like 70 cents per month for 3 months (and then full price), so I was paying for this and then cancelling right before it ended and restarting the same promo. There is also a 3$/month for 3 year deal that a lot of people use.

I also eventually found a python script that activates the dealership 3-month trial and I've just been reactivating my cars over and over. It works well for now.

I don't love SXM, but it does get service in places that my phone doesn't always so it's nice to have when we are roadtripping to the middle of nowhere. Plus some of the channels are actually really good depending on what music you enjoy.

I'm going to check out that activation script. As an aside, the link just inadvertently thrust me down memory lane: I'm old enough to have watched the Hardy Boys tv show with Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson, and when I saw the script author's name I thought of Parker Stevenson for probably the first time in 40 years or more. I had to google the name to see how it was spelled, and while doing that I saw that Shaun Cassidy is actually touring again, I'm guessing for the music he put out in the 70's? Wow, this is a distraction that I didn't have on my bingo card this morning :)

I'm probably going to sign up, just so there's not a dead feature in the infotainment system.

That's like a digital blank switch, and it would absolutely bug me.

The problem is I don't actually like Sirius. I'd rather it not have been in the dash in the first place.

I get a $99 for 3 years subscription. Sometimes they offer a 5yr for $125. You can't beat those subscription prices given how shit terrestrial radio is.

Been with XM forever. I actually have a lifetime subscription on my Mustang. They offered it for a short while years ago. I transferred my subscription from my other car the my Ranger when I traded it in.

retired with a home hobby, casting hard to find parts for muscle cars and vintage old toys, etc.
I let the free trial end, and a week later I got actual paper mail delivered offering $4 per month for 1 year plus a bluetooth wireless speaker. Probably will go for that, 4 bucks pretty cheap, just put a reminder on my phone calendar to cancel before the $24.99 kicks in. That price is way out of reality. Spotify is also not bad as you can build up your own library of tunes, but still around 10 bucks per month.
