Why do you need this option on a Lariat ?

Noticed several Lariats for sale with this option - SECURICODE KEYLESS KEYPAD

If keyless entry is standard on a Lariat, what is the advantage to adding this option ?

The Lariat is standard with a fob, so there's no key to put in the door (unless the batter is dead) but you still need to have the fob with you. With the access code you didn't need a fob to unlock. The only other way to do that is with the app, which requires cell service.

Also its for situations where you need to get something from the truck and dont have the keys, or if you wanna lock your truck and give your friend access to it for something.

My RR was ordered by the dealer with this option. I didn’t think it would be of much use to me and had planned to relocate the keypad to the back of the gas filler door.

However, in the 4 months I have owned the truck, this option has really grown on me a lot. It is black like the truck, so it really doesn’t stand out as much as I had feared it would and I have used it countless times when I have been in the garage without my keys. Much quicker than opening a phone and waiting on the app…

While I never would have ordered this option, I’m glad to have it.

I do use the keypad quite often. I find it useful to lock my keys inside when I don't want to or can't carry them (at a swim hole without lockers, for example).

Does the truck allow you to lock a fob inside? My old car didn't allow me to lock the doors when a key was inside, so I had to put the key in an RF blocking bag to get around that

Yes, but you have to use the keypad and not the door locks from inside. Press the last 2 buttons on the keypad at the same time and it locks all doors.

I've ordered the key pad on every Ford I've owned for how helpful it is in this situation alone. Most underrated and useful add on ever in my opinion.

They've come in useful in the past, before key fobs didn't allow you to lock yourself out lol. They still serve purposes if you have use cases for them.

mine didn't come with it, but I ordered it 3 weeks ago as it can be added as an accessory. Still "awaiting shipment" just like my original truck order..... :)

I'm a surfer and I have had this on all my Ford vehicles. 2 trucks and an Edge.
I consider it invaluable as when I'm out surfing I can't carry the key fob in my wetsuit nor do I want someone to see me hiding it somewhere. I picked up a new Ranger Lariat 2x4 2 weeks ago at the dealer because I had been waiting for over a year for my custom order. The only thing the new one didn't have compared to my order was the key-code entry but I knew I could order one after I bought it. It won't be the same color as the truck(I'm ok with that)nor will it be hard wired so I will have to remember to change the battery every couple of years

Sounds about right. I ordered a bed mat and j-braces 6 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for them.
