I do not understand why these OEM designed wireless charging pads in Fords even overheat or need a fan? Like they overcomplicated it for some reason.

I have a simple solid state USB powered wireless charger stand by my desk and it never even gets hot to the touch.

I agree. I charge my Galaxy 24 from numerous charging ports and outlets in my house and my phone never even gets warm. I haven't tried charging it in the Ranger via a cable. I'll update when I do.

Easiest way to disable it would be to pull fuse F3 on the inside BCM fuse panel.
Sorry off-topic question.

Hootbro, where can I get the wiring diagrams that you have? Are they part of the Ford service subscription as I've been thinking about looking at this but I don't really know what we get for our money.

I got mine from the Ford Subscription Service. I downloaded the full wiring diagram suite for the 2024 North American model Rangers. Currently working to get it into a workable collection that I will probably share at a later date on a Google Drive or similar. I had to do a lot of print to PDF and cleaning up those PDF's that is taking some time. It will include both the wiring diagrams and connector pinout sheets. It will also only be for the North American Petrol models and no Diesel models since they are not offered here.

OK, well done. I wasn't sure of what you get when you subscribe to their stuff so now I know it is good info I'll look into it.

Mind you the NA Ranger Raptor is probably going to be pretty close to the ROW one electrically - at least for the sort of things we are likely to do with it.

You get the full service info that the dealership techs get. A simple 3 day ($26 USD) subscription will allow you to get plenty of info. Besides the wiring diagrams, I print to PDF quite a bit of the major service instructions work that I would ever expect to deal with in my vehicles lifetime. Anything I missed in the future, still way cheaper to get a 3 day subscription to get that info than waste stabbing in the dark trying to figure out or pay a dealership shop rate.

Has anyone pulled the charging pad and disconnected it? I’ve never had luck charging my phone in several fords now and a Nissan they all seem to not work.
I need the storage cubbie to leave work keys at end of day but not supposed to keep metal there

In my '23 Tacoma the charging pad would literally send the phone into thermal shutdown (S23 Ultra). In my Ranger Lariat it gets mildly warm, charges through the case. It will keep the phone from discharging while in GPS mode.... very power hungry state.

I am hearing the fan for the wireless charger during startup. Initially I would hear it once and while or when turning hard (shifting weight). Now I hear it every time I start the truck. I’m guess since it’s colder out. It is 100% the wireless charger. I can stop the fan by firmly pressing on the charging pad.

Can I simply remove console panels and unplug the charger/fan? I never use it…

Or let the dealer handle it? I just dread the hassle of drop off, loaner, pickup for such a weird non-mechanical issue.

bring it to dealer, that's absolutely wrong noise for any fan

yet, I am not sure there is a fan on the wireless charger..it might be the one for the 12" screen

Wonder if the wireless charger can be upgraded to the newer Qi2 wireless charging standard. Has anyone looked into this idea?

I should have posted an update.

I brought it to the dealer. They said a wire loom was out of place and corrected it. No more noise 👌

Great to hear. I pulled the fuse on mine, I was never going to use it as intended and wanted to just play it safe with anything else I wanted to store there. I keep a sheathed leatherman and a small flashlight in that space. I have no use for the charging pad and mine was a little noisy.

I do like wireless charging. I use a ProClip mount next to the led display with a magnetic Scosch mount. Works great. I’ve never seen an OEM wireless charger that was any good for my needs.
