The Ranger has been out for two years in other countries. Does Ford Australia offer a TBC?
So I called my dealer last week and he ordered the part for me for $250. It came in today, so with any luck I'll have one installed this week! I don't know yet what it looks like whether it is the dial kind or the squeeze trigger nor where it will be installed, but will see. I have Lariat with tow package. Don't know yet the cost for installation but it will be installed by the "aftermarket" team, not service team, so I suspect it's mostly plug and play. Will post back here with results when I get them....

Ford advertises all non-Raptor Rangers as capable of towing 7500 lbs if properly equipped. A TBC is legally required in Montana to tow more than ~ 1600 lbs. , & other states have similar limits. Ford doesn't make or sell a TBC that fits a 2024 Ranger XL, & didn't make the XL capable of receiving any existing TBC unless modified by a person with electrical expertise. It may be that other 2024 Rangers without advanced tow packages (& the TBCs that come with them) are in the same situation as XLs.
Yes, when properly equipped. That doesn't mean that Ford has to 'properly equip' the truck for you.
Properly equipped could also mean a weight distribution hitch, Ford definitely isn't providing those. A trailer with surge brakes is properly equipped.
The 5G never had a TBC come straight from factory. Many added an aftermarket TBC, and it works just fine, except in the rare case of AEB.

In all my post about the 5G TBC, tying to the CHMSL was always mentioned for the Lumen module, but that can be tied into any brake light signal.

That is pretty much the same thinking I have on it. Unless you bought it out the gate "properly equipped" already, I do not see how the "fraud" angle can be played by somebody to force Ford's hand to make things available after the fact. This has pretty much played out the same for about every vehicle launch of some things being stated capable but when you buy the vehicle, you are buying it as it sits, not for what it could be after the sale and whether the OEM supports that or not.

No, just "trailer tow package" is listed on my sticker. My original truck order did have it though...that shows up at my dealer next week :(.

I don't yet know the part # or brand of what they ordered, but will post everything once I see it and know it works. Hopefully it also works on other trims.

Thank you! I was told by my dealer's service mgr that he believed there was no part that was compatible with a std tow pkg

Each is entitled to his/her own opinion. I respectfully suggest you may be substituting "modified" for "equipped." Meanings are construed against the writer, especially when the writer is in a position of power/ control

Please keep us informed. I will be ordering an XLT Standard option soon. I was going to add the advanced tow package for the TBC, but if I do that, for some reason I'll lose Ford Co-Pilot 360 features. I rarely tow, so those features are more useful to me than a TBC.

I just received a full-price buyout for my '24 XL. I thank all you folks for helping me understand Ranger TBC. I urge you to be cautious in purchasing a Ranger- the bed is floor must be thin & weak - mine developed 2 small cracks in the bed floor after being driven only 4x, & carrying only 1 load of 100 lbs of branches w 2 layers of tarp protecting the bed. I've attached photos. I've had my current Ranger for 29 years, & have carried hundreds of heavier loads, & have never had a crack.

Good luck, sorry that the TBC soured you on your new Ranger. Seems like the solution is right around the corner! Good luck, what do you think you're gonna buy to replace it?

I'd call Ford and ask about that. I think that means the Co-pilot 360 features are built in to the tow package, but priced/tagged a bit differently on the build (co-pilot i'm pretty sure is the brains behind trailer assist feature). For example, Lane keeping among others are part of co-pilot, but still shows up on this build's sticker that has advanced tow + tech: https://www.windowsticker.forddirec...9rPoMaeTDqYIGJnMX6QlBzYO7xNavm4Xde08K1NfcOrpL

If you ever think you'd tow a trailer with brakes, I'd suggest going for the advanced package and having it all done at the factory vs the pain we're going through now. Although if you don't tow much, you'll probably not need a TBC anyway. At any rate, I'll let you know what happens with my dealer. Still waiting for them to get me scheduled.

You are only removing the price, not the features. The Co-Pilot360 features are included with the Advanced Tech + Tow package.
Thanks. The way I see it is the tow pack is $495, another $330 adds the TBC. I assume an aftermarket TBC + install will be more than $330. Some on the 5G were paying up $750 for Ford to add the TBC.

BriSco also cleared it up for me on another post.

I talked to a Redarc guy last week when he called from Australia to return my msg He told me they didn't have any unit compatible with '24 Rangers yet.
The biggest hurdle for Ford is not finding an aftermarket TBC, it's figuring a way to tie it into the system without cutting and splicing wire. It had to be plug and play.
