Cost savings, just like everything else that was cut.
That's a shame since all the design cost had already been recovered by the overseas versions. Sort of why we have to install the bed support braces for a truck. And why there's a stupid open shelf behind the console to the back instead of a/c vents?.... What else did they skimp out on?
I highly doubt it was a cost savings, considering the amount of work it takes to build new molds.
No one actually knows. Could be supply constraints in this part of the world, could be money, could be something else.
U.S. Lawsuit prevention. You know, how everyone is so litigious around here. Put your hot coffee by the steering wheel, then nearly hit someone, but AEB kicks in and now you spilled coffee in your lap. $1million. Boom…
While on initial look at those types of lawsuits it would appear superficial, but people took serious injury from them. The coffee wasnt hot, it was literally 2nd to 3d degree burning scalding.
