Hey guys. I ordered a 2026 Ranger XLT without the 120V/400W in-bed power package. I know it'll just come with a blank, black steel plate attached to that location in the bed with 4 screws.

Curious if anyone has done any mods with that? I think it could be useful for something but have to think on it... maybe a secret storage compartment on the other side? Or drill into the plate for additional attachment points or something?

Anyone done anything with it?

If you care about power outlets it might be worth looking to see if your truck has the wires for the panel run to the back. If so the panel itself is pretty affordable; the part number is in another recent thread. I replaced my ‘25 panel that had the 110v outlet only for a panel from a ‘24 that had both 110v and 12v.

That's cool! If the wiring is truly there and the panel is cheap, that wouldn't be a bad thing to look into... but not going to lie, I've never felt a need to have power back there and can't even think of a situation where I would want or need it.

I was thinking it could be better utilized for storage or something! I was even thinking of pulling the blank panel and attaching a cargo net or canvas pocket to it or something for additional storage

In addition to power you could add an on board compressor air chuck. if you want some storage, look into marine glove boxes to see if theres something that would fit into those dimensions. There are all different sizes, but this is the type of thing I'm referring to:

That panel is plastic, so you may have to make a metal one if you find something close to mounting and need the panel as filler or a mount point

Ah that is good to know, didn't realize it was plastic - thanks for the heads up.

Maybe I'll find some sheet metal and like you said, use the plastic one as a template!

In another thread, I feel like we learned my '26 XLT did not have the proper wiring already there, but I can't remember what the parameters were on how we decided that. Subbing though for ideas!

You can lay behind the driver side rear wheel and look up at the frame for an orange wrapped wire harness. That means you can plug in the panel

Yeah I was missing that and it turned out also missing the required inverter under the driver's seat.

I'd like to do something like this, but 200 bucks is crazy for a plastic box.

I was the same till I got a 12 volt cooler, now I can't live without it. I still can't imagine a situation where I would need 120VAC back there though.
