I’ve installed an Improved Racing oil catch can on my Ranger Raptor. The quality looks excellent, with really nice materials and finish, and the installation was very straightforward.

The only downside was the shipping costs and import taxes to Spain, which were quite high. Overall, though, I’m very happy with it.

Threw some Lamin-x film on the corner marker lights and the fog lights. Found the way to get the best job done was to remove the fogs and do the film on the workbench. Doing it on the truck with the shroud would just be a disaster.

To further help reduce with carbon buildup on the backside of the intake valves the oily K&N and single single catch can have been jettisoned & updated to an AFE power dry S air filter and the IAG dual side catch can.

Today I decided to get crazy and do my first oil change at about 1880 miles and will then will follow up at 5k intervals. Overall it was fairly simple and I also grabbed a sample to send to Blackstone as a baseline and maybe do every 20 to 25k miles, not sure yet.

After watching several videos on oil changes I decided to order up one of those vacuum pump kits so I wouldn't have the Valdez docked in my garage. Wow, it made things so much cleaner and easier! Although it did take some time for the oil to be sucked up through the dipstick tube, which was fine since I was also working on my wife's 2016 CRV at the same time.

It's a 15L capacity, so held the full (whatever capacity since every source I have checked has come back at 7qts, 7.5qts, & 8.3qts). Based on the fill line at the top and the number of indentations on the container I estimated at about the 3rd indentation and it was pretty close! Next time I will measure what I remove to get a better idea of the capacity.

Some of the comments I had seen on here said there would still be a bit of oil coming out of the drain plug since the tube couldn't go all the way down into the pan, but this is all I got after 5-10 minutes.

I measured the dipstick length and marked the hose at where it stopped. 20" for the dipstick and got the hose in about 34". Used the handy-dandy tailgate to measure it!

Used a little trick to get that small O-ring on the filter cartridge. Put some string through the O-ring, loop on one side, the 2 ends out the other, wrapped the loop below where the O-ring sits, and gently pulled on one end of the string and gently worked it down and used a pick tool to pull it out.... Super easy.

And after all that drama, 8 quarts went in.... Although I am going to check it several more times before taking it out for any lengthy drive since capacity info is all over the place.

Finally got of my a$$ and programed the garage door remote so I can stop getting out to use the keypad or app. It went nice and smooth without having to mess with learn feature on the opener.

Speaking of this, is anyone else's Homelink range abysmal in their Ranger? My rear bumper needs to be just about touching my garage door before it will open. I've never had this issue with any other vehicle.

Nope, it's way better than my BMW was. I don't back in though. But I can get my door opening about 50ish feet away. My BMW had to be in the driveway to open the door.

Mine is poor. If I back in (I park outside,) I have to open the driver's door before it works.
My wife's Escape works from 2 houses down....
