So I am about to order from Ford Accessories the Ford Performance Tuner out of Ford's Accessories catalog. We all got that right?

So I call one of the biggest Ford Truck dealership (in terms of sales) in the Boston area because that is closest to me at my new address. I thought going to a dealer that sells many Ford Trucks would be a good place to start. I call and the first "service advisor" had no clue what I was even talking about and would NOT let me speak with the Service Manager- won't go there! The second dealership, also a high volume truck dealership, told me, "we won't install Ford Accessories if you didn't purchase the vehicle from this dealership!" I tried to explain that I wanted to find a good local dealership to bring all my business to since I am new in area and got the "NO" again... Needless to say I will be calling both Ford Accessories and Ford Customer Service.

In the meantime is there anyone in this forum who can suggest a good Ford Service Dept near Boston, MA?

That is frustrating and puzzling. This seems like easy money for the dealership/technician.

I wonder if you bought the tuner through the dealership parts department if that would make a difference? If nothing else, contact the parts manager to see.

What are the names of the dealerships. It's time to call them out BY NAME.

Im near Boston too and reached out to the dealership I just bought the truck from asking about the performance tune. They never even got back to me. I get the sense the performance tune is kind of case by case and some dealers do a lot of them while others have no idea it exists.

I live in the North Houston area with several big Ford dealerships. I have found I get much better information and service from a small town dealership than the big volume shops. They have much less turn over and know me personally.

Ford dealers are extremely out of touch.
I went to my local AutoNation and a smartass young know it all service advisor tell me that my warranty would be void because I didn't get the tune installed before 500 miles, I had about 1200 miles at the time. I asked him to show me proof of that, needless to say he searched for about 20 minutes and couldn't find it, I then left and made an appointment at another dealer that was happy to take my money.

I've purchased far more motorcycles than cars/trucks. I've learned over the decades that dealerships are effectively useless once you buy a vehicle. I only use them for necessary recall work. I don't even order parts from them.

If you're ever lucky enough to find a good and competent mechanic/service department, treat them like royalty. Because they are as rare as unicorns.

Call Ford customer service and tell them you bought a Genuine FORD factory part and they won't install it. They will ask what dealer are you having a problem with and they will make the appointment for you.

It doesn't have to be a FORD dealer, ANY ASE certified mechanic can do it for you.

I ran into that also. I ordered installation with the tuner. Call the dealers found in the drop down box. I found one who honored the install price.
