Black Seats and Texas Summers!

104 here in Texas yesterday and once again I’m cursing car manufacturers for their affinity for black seats, especially leather, faux leather or plastic. I would have happily paid another grand for cooled seats like I had in my F-150. My 2025 Lariat was $54,000- they couldn’t stick cooling seats in there for that much money? How people in Arizona, where it’s even hotter make it through the summer with their black leather/faux leather Ranger seats, I don’t know. Maybe asbestos buns?

Living in Louisiana, that's the reason I never liked leather seats. Not as much a problem with cloth seats and covers.

I'm in OK. I came from a '15 Ford Edge Sport that had suede heated/cooled seats, and man, I miss them more than I thought I would. I just got my truck the first week of July, and it's been rough. I looked into some seat covers to help with breathability, but it makes me nervous to get something that might interfere with the airbags. I landed on some sheepskin ones made by AEGIS on Amazon that happened to be on sale for $65. They only cover the center part of the seat and back, so nothing to get in the way of airbags. Even though it's counterintuitive to get something so thick, I figured it must be a similar principle as surfers wearing UGGs. They look kinda pimpin', but I do think it's doing the job, I don't seem to end up with a sweatier back than I started with when I got in the truck.

That's why I always try to get cloth seats if I can. I know yall couldn't being that you got the high end trucks though.

Carhart make anything? I have them in the normal ramger seats and they say work with the airbags

On really hot days, I use the remote start to start pre-cooling the cabin for about 5-10 mins before I get in. Helps to take the initial sting out of the hot seats.

They don’t have these for the Raptor but I had some in my 08 jeep JK rubicon and I’ve never come across a seat cover that fits better. I haven’t used them in a while so I can’t say they are still the best but for me they were back then. For my RR I went with wetokole and they work, but I wouldn’t say it helps with the sweating nor are they as good a fit as the marathon seat covers (pic attached)

Don't know if you have put Nano ceramic window film in your truck. Mine has XPEL film all around, 70% front, 20% everywhere else. Did the same on my previous F150. Reduces UV with noticeably cooler interior and seats and glass in the Kansas sun, with temps now climbing into the 100 F plus humidity. I do miss the F150 Lariat with the a/c cooled seats but you can also go with Katzkin Degreez seats.

I've owned one car with leather seats in my life. All it took was one summer of dealing with that to know I'd never do it again. I have the cloth seats in my XLT. If you aren't already, maybe using a sunshade will keep the heat from baking your leather seats? I use one now even though I have cloth seats because I feel it does keep the car just a little bit cooler as opposed to letting the sun just blast through the windshield when its parked.

Yeah I miss the ventilated seats all our other have/had. Crazy that Ford doesn't include them even as an option in the Rangers.
And I HATE black leather. Not a huge fan of leather in general... Why don't the auto makers give more color and material options?
For our big road trip I put these in the RR. I like them so much I haven't taken them out yet. Impressive for how cheap they were. The idea was to protect the leather and be cooler in the hot weather.

Thanks for the reply! Question- are they difficult to install? I bought a pair of seat covers to protect the leather in my Infinity and it was a workout to get them on properly. And that was when I was a youngster in my 60’s. Is installing these a one man operation, or should I enlist the help of every able bodied man on my block?

Someone on this forum bought replacement seat covers that also had a cooling system in them. They wired in the switch and powered it from the 12V bus, also retained the factory heated function. If you do a search you'll probably find it, might be an option, I don't think it was that expensive either.

All the seat covers are removable nowadays, unlike older cars where it was sewn or glued on. I may at some point do that myself to add cooled seats. I have no issue with the simply durability of the factory leather and I personally like the looks of it, BUT, my wife's CX-50 and my pop's CX-90 have cooled seats after using them in her car for a 2,400 mile round trip from OH to FL for a cruise we just got back from, I'm a fan (pun intended).

There you go! Not sure if they come in a color other than black leather, but they are cooled. I will probably do those at some point myself.

Ranger comes with an option for tan seats. You could have also selected an XL or XLT that has cloth? Or get some nice aftermarket seat covers?
