I don't know and neither do you, because none of the articles you've linked have actually specified which car makers are collecting "photos, browsing history, files and emails".

ford doesn't have access to what's inside carplay and android auto. that is google/apple software and google/apple control that data and the software, not ford. not that big of a deal since they already knew exactly what's on your phone, since it's their hardware.

carplay/android auto is a black box to ford & other car makers. why would google let ford have free reign over that data when google's entire business model is selling that data? that would be lost revenue.

ford has direct access to the phone information that the infotainment system uses natively. the infotainment natively handles calls, texts and music. therefore, that's the data that we are aware ford can access.

once again, this article also does not say anywhere that ford is collecting "photos, browsing history, files and emails".
Maybe this one will at least let you accept the fact that you are dead wrong !!!!

here is a photo of the sync 4 for on the mach E... it obviously shows emails can be viewed or downloaded or seen through the sync 4 so once again you are totally Incorrect and yes this is a Ford Model

yet you still have no source that ford is storing "photos, emails, browsing history and files" like you originally claimed was 100% true. this image from a mach-e doesn't prove anything that you said was happening. just admit you were incorrect about that baseless claim and move on.

no one is claiming ford's systems are secure in this thread. what we want is actual discussion on what is verifiable and provable, not conspiracy theories.

I suppose you think this guy is lying?
https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-3-downloads-email-not-text-messages-334040/

and once uploaded to sync it is definitely saved without your controll, just like the text are , and the contacts lists , call logs, and other data....

I don't see why you think any of this is a conspiracy theory...? maybe your just mad or angry? I'm simply the messenger here connecting you to the truths that others have posted about data privacy with all vehicles including your ford you defend so fiercely ( I love Ford too)....where's your proof that ford doesn't store these emails on sync 3 or 4 once downloaded off your phone??? anything downloaded off the device is saved ....you should look up the lawsuits and read the related court case. I'm not claiming to be 100% accurate as you mentioned, but what I've shown is that ford's shit saves more stuff than your willing to admit. why?

wow...another random forum post with 0 actual evidence that it's happening from 8 years ago.

the 2016 f150 is running sync 3. my last car ran sync 3. i never encountered this issue in 7 years of ownership and daily usage.

please quit trying to claim conspiracy theories and baseless forum posts are fact.

because what you've claimed at the start of this thread IS conspiracy theory. you were adamant that ford was saving "photos, browsing history, files and emails", you provided no actual proof and then you got mad because you got called out.

you haven't shown ford is saving more than i admit. i said i'm aware ford is saving texts, calls and music because that's how the infotainment works and the functionality is required.

you are saying "look up the lawsuits and related court case"...how about you share the ones that actually prove what you're claiming? because we're on page 4 and you still haven't been able to show that these actually exist.

give it a rest dude. once again, we know every company is saving and selling our data. what this thread is about is actual facts, not your baseless theory on what you think is happening. at this point i'm just going to block you because this has been a giant waste of my time and the obsession you have with trying to be right is getting old.

Now we'll move on to the pictures and photos. On my Bronco I can see the phone contacts pictures or icons that I have selected to put with the contact as information on my Android phone. When I pull up the contacts on Ford Sync I can see all of the pictures that are on my contacts. When I send a message or receive a call from one of these contacts that has a picture the picture is displayed very big on the screen and I can see exactly who I'm talking to or texting. On an Android phone the contacts is actually an application, and this application has access to the photos on the phone that this is why you can get a thumbnail picture attached to the contact because the app has access to the photos. Ford Sync as full access to the contacts. So yes in a way Ford Sync has access to some of your pictures on your phone and does save them along with the contacts. Why this might not be a concern to most folks it depends on how you use the pictures on your phone. For example there's several people that I really don't like that I still have to have contacts with and I have a horrible picture of them as the thumbnail to remind myself of what a terrible person they are. On the other hand I have a nice picture of my wife's breasts for her contact picture, so while I'm in the car and I get a call from the wife her boobs pop up on the main screen this is fantastic Until you realize that her twins are probably saved on the sync system forever. If you use your imagination you can you can come up with other ways that this is intrusive and in some cases could be used in a legal battle between spouses and any groovy attorney could get a subpoena for whatever records They want to pull out in a civil case and I'm sure Ford would gladly comply.

Fords are equipped with a modem and likely a router that way you can hook up multiple devices to the Wi-Fi and have internet access. It's common knowledge that routers have a history they keep of your browsing history and the sites you visit. So while you're in the Ford vehicle and you use your phone or other wireless devices to access the internet while using the Wi-Fi the Ford embedded modem and router part of the telematics module is keeping a history of the sites that you or whoever use the Wi-Fi visited.

One way to find out if SYNC keeps those contact photos is to leave your phone behind and see if the photos still show up in contacts. As for my 5G SYNC3, I've never seen photos on contacts in the display.

It doesn't work that way once you disconnect your phone you cannot see any contacts until you are able to open Android auto. That does not mean that the contacts are not saved it just means that you cannot view them without a dialer or SMS device attached with either Android auto or carplay. Other cars are designed differently as I have rented many still have the previous renters phone info and contact saved on the main screen menu and are clearly visible because they did not erase them before they release the car back to the rental company.

Things must be different in SYNC4. On SYNC3, I do not need Android Auto to make or receive calls and text. Just need a Blue Tooth connection to the phone.

then how do you" leave the phone behind " as you stated in previous post if your hooked up to blue tooth? makes no sense....I will try and Bluetooth only hookup and see wht the results are. I even called "fords team of experts" who spewed out more misinformation...they don't even know the system shows thumbnail pics...what retards.

What exactly are you asking? All modern tech is a big privacy risk, there is not much you can do, except in the case of a new Ranger, do not use the Connected Services, including the FordPass Connect app, and do not activate the onboard modem...

https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...c/how-do-i-change-sync-connectivity-settings/

I hate the Ford navigation, I got a free three year subscription but after a few tries I never use it. There are better “non-connected” alternatives, like a stand alone gps, and use your phone, connected by Android Auto or CarPlay, when you have a cell signal.

I bought my truck because at age 70, I felt that I needed the driver aids that my 10 year old truck did not have, and I do appreciate them a lot, every time I drive. The Connected stuff is dross IMHO.

I've heard the only way to avoid this stuff is to pull the vehicle's sim card.

Well so are Google, Apple and your wireless company. We live in a surveillance economy, you can't fart without it being uploaded into multiple databases.
