I wanted to add, my 10 speed transmission has been fine.

I did run into a guy with a 2025 Ranger and he told me he gets a hard automatic shift into 3rd gear.

This is scary:

Expert Warns Of Major Flaws In Ford And GM 10-Speed Transmissions

Scary? Yes. FUD? Also yes.

Not really sure if the article is really just intended to be FUD, but it amounts to little more than that. BTW, the "major safety flaw he has identified with the Ford units" has already been recalled a few months before he made this video: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=25V164 but of course, that's not mentioned.

A good takeaway from that article is to make sure existing recalls are addressed on your vehicle(s).

I appreciate you sharing the article. The more info shared helps us all have more data points to ask informed questions.

That being said, I am increasingly suspicious of these "experts" on YouTube raising alarms. I spent over 30 years at GM and know how these products are developed and how problems are handled. No mass produced vehicle is exempt from issues. How the company steps up is what makes the difference. I'm driving my first Ford for a reason. So far, I am highly satisfied.

I think every manufacturer is having issues with these new multi gear transmissions.

I had a new Chevy Traverse a few years ago and the transmission started to stutter real bad. I googled the issue and there was GM Service bulletin on it. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it. Several thousand miles and it's stuttering again. I took it back to the dealer and they told me they reset the transmission again, but the mechanic wasn't positive it was fixed after a test drive.. I traded the car in. A few months later I read they were replacing the transmissions.

Have fun eating my 2.7L dust.
That was sarcasm, btw. I had a deposit down for a Taco when they started hitting dealer lots and got a refund of that deposit after I test drove and promptly bought my Ranger. It ain't perfect, but I'm not crazy about the Tacos. And even my 2.3L is more peppy than the Tacoma's drivetrain.

Time will tell, but I'll wait for data rather than get overly worried based on some "expert." The Car Guy really annoys me too. Tons of extreme click bait.

That said, my experience so far is that the Ranger 10R60 transmission is wonky at best.

Same here. I drove the "faster" taco and then 1hr later drove the ranger and never looked back.

How many miles does it have? The first couple of thousand miles mine was shifting a little oddly, but now it's mellowed out at 7k.
