Looks like an AFE oiled filter.
No thanks.

I found this while searching the Ford Performance website.
https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9601-BR30

Rebranded K&N?
Regardless of 'rebranding'' source, spec states "washable, reusable" which likely means oiling required.

Certainly, tradeoffs for oiled vs dry media; however, with turbos and direct injection an incorrectly over oiled filter either another source for intake gunk accumulation, under oiled potentially decreased filter efficiency and/or more frequent filter monitoring ➡ especially if off-roading.
An advertised 7.6% flow increase totally negligible 👎

IMO, don't see compelling benefit of oiled filter for this application.

Not all washable filters are oiled! Many K&N are not oiled but are washable! The K&N for the 19-23 Rangers were washable, but non-oiled!

True points...Ford Performance uses AIRAID filters for some other applications, including both oiled and oil-free designs. That does not establish which media is used in the BR30.

Makes zero sense that Ford's listing provides no spec/instruction sheet or explicit oiling requirement for this part. Although my experience, 'blue' media typically connotes oiled...assumption could be wrong.

Safe approach simply contact Ford Performance or AIRAID with the exact part number M-9601-BR30 and ask whether it uses oiled or non-oiled media and whether re-oiling is required after washing.

Yeah, I made the mistake when selling my 2019 Rangers for my 2024 Raptor of cleaning the K&N filter! It was colored like an oiled filter so I assumed it was and oiled it. When I noticed it said no oiling, I called K&N on what to do. They said just wash it again and let it dry without oiling and it would be fine.

I run the aFe Power Pro DRY s air filter. 100% dry media and 100% washable & reusable. Fits right in the factory air box.

Does the Ford M‑9601‑BR30 Air Filter Need Oiling After Cleaning?
No — the Ford M‑9601‑BR30 is a washable, oil‑free performance air filter, so it does not require re‑oiling after cleaning

Why it’s oil‑free
The M‑9601‑BR30 is designed for the 2022–2026 Bronco Raptor and 2024–2026 Ranger Raptor 3.0L engines. Ford Racing Parts lists it as a washable/reusable filter with a FRP (fiberglass reinforced polymer) element that delivers higher airflow than stock, and explicitly states it is oil‑free

www.trackey.ford.com. This means it does not have the oil‑impregnated media found on some older or aftermarket “oiled” filters, and therefore does not need to be re‑oiled after service.
How to clean it
Ford’s performance filter service instructions for similar M‑9601 models (including oil‑free types) are straightforward:
  1. Remove the filter from the housing.
  2. Wash with a mild household detergent or the recommended cleaner.
  3. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap and debris.
  4. Dry completely in shade or indoors before reinstalling

    Ford Performance Parts.
No oiling step is included in the procedure because the filter’s filtration is achieved through the media’s structure, not an oil coating.
Important notes
  • Do not use oil on this filter — it will reduce airflow and can damage the FRP element.
  • Always ensure the filter is completely dry before reinstalling to prevent moisture from entering the intake.
  • If you notice reduced airflow or visible damage, replace the filter rather than re‑oiling it.
Bottom line: The M‑9601‑BR30 is a dry, washable filter — clean, dry, and reinstall; no re‑oiling is required

Ford is bringing out reusable air filters on most vehicles. Most likely, due to public demand. What I do not think you will ever see, is oiled filters sold by, or sanctioned by Ford. The controversy of oil contamination the mass air flow (MAF)sensors causing problems for the engine. K&N is the Fram of washable filters and auto enthusiasts can be very passionately opposed to using them on their vehicles
