Fuel Injection Service Recomendation

I just took my 2024 in for an Oil change and the A pilar Air bag recall (that they couldn;t do). Service said the only recommendation was a $375 Fuel Injection service every 20k. Mine has 21K miles. What is this? Is it necessary? What do they do spray some seafoam into the intake? is this a Ford recommended maintenance item or are they trying to upsell unnecessary stuff? Can we do this ourself? What does it consist of? thanks in advance

They put some stuff in the tank and through a line to the injectors, if I remember right when they wanted me to do that

The owners manual should tell you if that's needed.
I call "Upsell bullcrap."

When I was turning wrenches once in a while I'd see a work order with a ton of upsell crap on it. We had a service writer with an angelic face but she was a snake... Customer might say- Is there any other maintenance I should do while I'm here? She would smile and say welllll...have you done this, or that?...
And suddenly a 2 item repair order becomes a 12 item repair order. At $229 per hour....

The service writers had a list called Menu Items. Some were accessories installed, some were services. Accessories were usually a pretty good deal, hard for us techs to make money. But services....I've always felt sorry for folks who were mechanically inept and have to pay big bucks for easy maintenance

If you have the raptor with the direct injection only 3.0, or the older 2.3 with direct injection only, you might want to run some cleaner (seafoam, etc.) through the intake now and then. But definitely not for $375, walnut blasting probably costs less than that ...

If you have the 2.7 or the newer 2.3 with port injection, it shouldn't matter, ever. Part of the reason I went with the 2.7.

They call it fuel injector service and not intake service though, I gotta wonder if they do anything more than add a bottle of $5 cleaner to your fuel tank. Dealers know that some people will pay for it every 20k, too...
