You should consider joining the Comma.ai discord. Lots of actual experience there and there may be a sub that is related to the Ranger.
I just joined over there this morning. Hope to learn the best combination of forks for my Ranger. My main objective is to make those 7-8 hour drives to the West coast less exhausting, getting there all tired out kind of puts a damper on the first day of vacation. I also travel 2-2.5 hours between Tucson and Phoenix which is never a relaxing experience.

Just be careful when you ask questions. Try to read the FAQs and use the search. One of the comma mods is a straight up dick. They guy must be angry 24/7. Most everyone else there is great!

I have a 2025 Lariat and it works fine. I would recommend buying a Comma 3x from Comma directly. It supports the free software development, then I'd install the latest version of Bluepilot which is a customized version of Openpilot for Fords. The 4 is the newest hardware but I'm not sure it supports Bluepilot.
I'm still procrastinating on this. Do you still recommend the Comma 3x and why not the four that the OP used? (says it supports Bluepilot)I also have a FitcamX and I wonder if that will get in the way of the camera? I guess I won't need the Fitcamx if Comma works as a dashcam though........

The comma 4 has been great. The newer updates are out and the driving is more smooth and the visual info on the display is more informative.

I just completed a 2,000 mile road trip and I used the system for 80-90% of the highway miles. It really made the time more enjoyable and reduced my fatigue significantly. I was able to wipe out large chunks of miles easily, with low effort and could enjoy the scenery (to a certain extent).

I don’t recommend this for everyone and you should not expect to just activate the system and take a nap. You must pay attention and be aware but once you’re used to it, it’s very smooth and safe.

As far as using it for a Dashcam, I poked around and believe the feature may still be coming in future updates. I could be wrong.

I've been using this system on my '25 Lariat for 8 months, basically as long as I've had the truck. I use the BluePilot fork of SunnyPilot, and it's been rock solid with the WD40 model.

For those concerned after their experience with Tesla's self driving, this is a very different beast. I've rented a few Teslas and the FSD always scares me, I've never been scared with BluePilot. I have it set up to use the Ford ACC for "latitude" so if you trust your truck to follow at a safe distance already you can fully trust this. It's only the steering that it controls for me.

When I do my 450 mi trips to OR I arrive way less fatigued than when I drive myself.

Anyone who has more insight into Comma (and I assume their forums and Reddits) know if anyone has tried this on a 2026 yet? I heard (but cannot confirm) that 2026 went to an encrypted CAN bus so the Comma wouldn't work.

What sort of collosal idiot would think this is a good idea?!!!

Sorry. We are not alike.
I have my lane keeping shut off automatically in My Mode/Ranger Status, the first thing I do when I get in and start is double click the 'R". I hate it in Fords I have driven (a lot as I drive trades for a dealer, and I hate it on my wife's Honda.....but that is really not auto/hands free. Ridden in a friends top of line Hunyadi and kind of liked it, but not for me. Any more money I put in will be for performance - already have tune and CAI. Idiot might be a bit harsh :)

I drove a rental Kia and that thing would steer itself on some pretty sharp curves.

As a new enthusiast of my Ranger Raptor, I am available to answer technical questions in the Tech thread related to the install and function of this setup if anyone is interested.
Either way, enjoy your truck.
I purchased a 2025 Ranger Raptor in April and was disappointed to see no hands free driving ability. I like the truck and at 1500 miles suffered a low oil pressure warning resulting in a seized motor. The motor seized while in the Ford Garage on the diagnostic monitor. Learning that I can add this hands free technology changes my approach dealing with this seized engine problem. I feel I can let replacing the long block go forward instead of demanding a new truck. No need to get ugly. In the meantime I will look into this add. Thank you
