Thank you, i didn't even know there were pre-mufflers so that is something I'll look into.

I keep thinking the 3.0 explorer isn't as loud and annoying as the raptor, so surely there is some exhaust combo that can quiet it down without killing the performance since the explorer still does fine with the same engine.

Add 2 Vibrant 1792s pre-muffler.

I'd put some sound deadening mat on the rear wall and pull the carpet to put it on the floors.

This may be the dumbest topic posted here because I know most people love the raptor exhaust and want to improve it.

I want the opposite. I crave silence as much as possible. I'm looking for any suggestion on how to achieve a quieter exhaust, even if it means removing the active exhaust system altogether.

I am very sensitive to noises, and even quiet mode is too loud for my taste when it comes to prolong interstate travel (rpms above 2k). I bought the raptor for is capabilities and not it's exhaust.

I've never modified the exhaust on any vehicle I've owned in the past and don't know if i should seek out the help of an exhaust shop, dealership, or just a good mechanic.

Any suggestions? Should i be looking at full exhaust systems, mufflers only, or resonators only?

Side note, I've already put sound deadening material in the doors, and will do the roof and back wall soon. I may or may not do the floor as it appears to have a good amount of insulation already. I didn't do it to help with exhaust sounds, but it does appear to have a mild benefit.
You’re not alone .
I hate the sound of a v6 especially a loud v6 .

I have my RRs programmed to stay in quiet mode. I still wish I could get them quieter , possibly more like the sound levels of a 2.7L Ranger . To me the quieter 2.7L Ranger is much better sounding v6 . I do still 100% prefer my RRs overall .

I wonder if the oe muffler from the 2.7 would make a RR quieter.

Also curious exactly where the exhaust valves are located .
I would not want to trip any codes by unhooking those valves and I do prefer everything to remain functional in that regard.

I've considered acoustic glass and different tires when these wear down (10k so far). The tire noise isn't the issue. Wind noise is not that much worse than other vehicles.

But i might change both when needed.
Is upgrading to acoustic glass even a possibility?

I have sound deadened my roof and doors as well the front wheel wells and part of the firewall from the outside .

All effective mods, well worth doing in my opinion.

Never heard of anyone selling or offering upgraded acoustic glass .

When I upgraded my stereo, I added Dynamat to the doors and rear wall. It helped remove some of the higher RPM drone at higher highway speeds. It didn't eliminate it entirely, but it did help.

Also, sorry about all the negative comments on here. I totally agree with you that the drone can be annoying on highway drives. I like the truck loud when I'm ripping around, but that shouldn't mean I have to deal with drone when I'm sitting in the left lane on a long road trip behind a Pruis or Tesla that is going too slow.

Why when starting in "quiet start" mode does it take 10 to 15 seconds to enter quiet mode? I live in a townhouse and don't to wake the neighbors when firing up my truck at 0 dark 30 to go hunting.

My current expedition and previous f150 have/had acoustic glass. At one point in the past when replacing glass it was an option to get a cheaper non-acoustic glass that lower trimmed f150 supposedly got.

That was the sales pitch anyways.

Acoustic glass is supposedly two layers of glass with a laminate material between them to absorb vibrations. It's very easy to see on my expedition side windows. They are much thicker and you can make out the two pieces to a degree.

So i assume there might be the option of a maker offering an acoustic class by chance. I don't know. The ranger isn't likely to have high enough production numbers to justify it.

Same.

I often wake up in National park campgrounds to go get sunrise pics and I hate starting my vehicles an hour before sunrise to disrupt the piece. It always takes a while to idle down in any vehicle.

i have quiet mode start on all the time and wish it would actually "start" in quiet mode.

Sound deadening is your friend. These Rangers don't have much. You can tell just by opening or shutting a door. It sounds very hollow.

That makes sense on vehicles that offered it in higher trim levels that both versions could be offered as replacements.

To the best of my knowledge none of the Rangers have it from the factory.

Curious if the Everest might have it , I think it uses the same front doors.
That might make it possible for the front doors .

To lower the overall tone and volume, you'll need to add bigger mufflers or resonators. My old Tbird has a highly modified, supercharged v6, and it took an RV muffler as the center resonator, and two 18x8x5 (IIRC) mufflers out back, to quiet the car and drone, but still have a deep tone for when I dropped the hammer. It'll take some playing around to get it right, but bigger = better here (within reason). The more packing around the pipe, the lower the frequency range it can absorb, and more it'll attenuate the high frequencies.

Pretty sure I used magnaflow exclusively. You may lose a little power going this route, but you shouldn't create enough additional backpressure to cause any concern.

If we could make the exhaust note sound like this, most would not complain especially since the quite mode really does make it quite quiet.

This is not quite mode:

I've never been a fan of loud exhausts but not to the sensitivity of the OP. I like a low rumble and no drone (I am trading in a 2018 Audi S6 V8TT which has a terrific exhaust (like most V8's). On previous cars I also found Magnaflow to have the best lower tone while still improving flow on a modified vehicle. I used to have a Subaru Sti (again a lower rumble due to the flat four) and put a high flow catted downpipe, and DP back Magnaflow (shop I worked at had these customs made for Subaru's but used Magnaflow resonators and mufflers.

* for the OP, I would contact a GOOD muffler shop that has a good welder to custom make an exhaust. It sounds like the valves are not needed for you but to not hurt performance I think something with well baffled mufflers (Magnaflow has lots of customs make sizes you should be able to fit in various places) and just see what they say. I would also recommend getting tailpipes that angle slightly down and back (like a 45% angle for the tips). When camping this will aim it back from the vehicle and toward the dirt/ground which should also dissipate some sound.

I actually test drove a 2026 Ranger Raptor the other day while shopping for a truck and found it actually quiet. While I was on the way back to the dealership the rep reached over and hit something on the steering wheel that brought up exhaust and changed a few things while driving. Besides not knowing you can do that on the fly, or at least I thought that is what he was doing, the changes didn't seem to make much difference to me (granted, the windows are all up).

I need to preference this by saying my ears are not the best after working on fighter aircraft for years but the cabin overall was pretty nice I thought. My 2015 gt/pp mustang was much louder although nothing like the lad above in the gt350.

OP - have you reached out to Ford/Corporate out of curiosity or a dealer to see if they can make contact to someone for advise? That is what I would probably try or do.

Hope your day is well.
