When I was about 12 my dad came home from work and caught me running up and down the road on the riding lawnmower. I had removed the mower deck, and found a gear in the shop that changed the drive ratio to make it faster (chain drive to rear axle) and replaced the rear sprocket.
I didn't get dinner until I had it all back together and working...
LOL! I did the same thing, but shimmed the engine up about 3/4" so the much larger mower blade pulley was lined up with the transmission. Transmission only had drive, neutral and reverse. With the throttle way up I dropped it in gear. Should have pulled it out of the garage and pointed it in a safe direction first! Those rubber tires with acorn treads make for an extremely smoky burnout as they start to grab! I panicked and attempted to drop the transmission into neutral, passing it and hitting reverse! Finally found neutral and assessed the damage. Thankfully the only damage was a couple galvanized trash cans and a thick, black "V" of rubber on the garage floor!
Ah, my kind of people. :D

I'm curious which v6s sound good because I've never heard one outside of a Ferrari/Maserati v6.
I had a Dodge Stealth with 3.0 Mitsu NA, very nice deepish snarly sound when you get on it, nearly silent otherwise. I had a 3000GT VR4 twin turbo w active exhaust, it sounded similar but louder, very satisfying. Buddy's 300ZX had a good exhaust note. Had a 90s Ford pickup with the 4.0 v6 and an inexpensive thrush muffler, sounded great. Didn't sound like v8 but it wasn't bad. Had an 07 Mustang v6 and it sounded good stock but I replaced the muffler with a GT muffler and it sounded wonderful! Been around many Vortex v6s that didn't sound like a lawnmower....

Also have you heard the ranger raptor with a equal length trombone? Sounds way better than stock IMO.

This one has a sound clip at the bottom of the page but theres also a thread somewhere on here about the equal length too

I bought a set of tailpipes off a 2025 Raptor off ebay. I'm going to try some different resonators on them. I will still have my stock ones if I don't like it.

I plan on keeping my Raptor V6 exhaust stock.
The only six cylinder exhaust that I have ever liked the sound of was the flat six engines in the Porsches… Cayman or 911 with proper pipes. A V6 exhaust has never sounded good to me…. This is only my OPINION…!!!!

I am looking forward to getting my Raptor in late May!

I was thinking of vehicles not that old, but that they are old, and i can't remember those 90s cars since I was much younger. I don't remember them being obnoxious though.

It seems like more modern Nissans/Infiniti V6s are the ones I can't stand, they sound like Honda civics with cheap Chinese" fart cannons

You’re not alone .
I hate the sound of a v6 especially a loud v6 .

I have my RRs programmed to stay in quiet mode. I still wish I could get them quieter , possibly more like the sound levels of a 2.7L Ranger . To me the quieter 2.7L Ranger is much better sounding v6 . I do still 100% prefer my RRs overall .

I wonder if the oe muffler from the 2.7 would make a RR quieter.

Also curious exactly where the exhaust valves are located .
I would not want to trip any codes by unhooking those valves and I do prefer everything to remain functional in that regard.
If you know of a good muffler shop. they could be helpful swapping magna flow mufflers, resonators, that could change the volume and depth of the sound, without messing with the messing around with the basis functions?

Tesla drivers are annoying, dense, and usually drive slow. No offense to the few that are not...they only want to race, as that's THE ONE thing a model S with dual motor can do well. Go in a straight line and win...then go back to charge their car as it depletes most of their range/battery lol
I have both the RR and a just got a Tesla S. I think both do what they need to do really well. I also have two Porsche cars that I have not been driving for a while. The Tesla is that much fun... My relationship with gas stations has changed drastically.. The Tesla can do 400 miles on a charge, even driving fast..

I dont thinknits the charge that is a problem with electric cars, its the charging. Electric cars are super cool, charging for an hour or five, not so much.

I would love a tesla as an around town car. And have a normal gas or hybird for when i have to drive across country

Yep, electric cars are still a niche market for around town use only, as a commuter only, or for people who have a garage. Hybrids are still the best option for those who want to retain vehicle mobility and flexibility ICE vehicles have. The infrastructure isn't there and the charge times still make electric vehicles less viable.
