Jeep Ducks? I think not...

I have a friend that LOVED his Jeep and bragged on it all the time. After spending a ton on the electrical system the engine took a dump and just this week he's the proud owner of an F250 Super Duty. I politely haven't ribbed him about his Jeep that he had to almost give away to get rid of it.

That whole Jeep duck thing is a hard no thank you for me. It's kind of funny and maybe it's a regional thing but in my area the whole duck thing seems to be mostly favored by people with mall crawlers and not so much with those of us that actually use them as intended.

It always makes me laugh when I see someone with those little plastic ducks lined up all across the dash on their stock height Wrangler and these little hwy tread tires on it or the Rubicon Wrangler in the parking lot that has a six inch lift and is rolling on some kind of tall low profile sidewall 20-24in rim tire combo because everyone knows a super low profile sidewall "wheels" offroad really well. NOT!

Mine is a 24 JLUR and only has a few thousand miles on it but 75-80% of those have been off road. Toy duckies are for bathtubs and I will happily pass with regard to any new thing that may get started with Raptors. I guess if it does it'll be my wife and daughters problem since they are their DD's.

Ha! Somewhere I have pictures of a huge a$$ duck like that in various parts of China and HK when I was working there a lot. I forgot what it was on tour for, but I ran into it in several locations.

Ok, so maybe we don't want to fill our dashes full of tiny raptors... Besides they would fall in your lap every time to stomp on the gas...unlike jeeps...

Might just drop a raptor-eating-a-duck on the occasional jeep for a laugh though...

I say leave the Jeep people to their ducks. They simply fit the toy off road poser vehicles they drive. The only thing a Jeep does better than a raptor is rock crawl and the ones that do are almost always heavily modified and you don't see rubber ducks on the dashes of those Jeeps.

It's a silly almost childish fantasy thing and I can't help but look on those Jeep owners as wannabe offroaders.

I've had a few Jeeps challenge me at stoplights around here and, of course, they got a lesson on Raptor superiority. There is one on my hunting lease with me and he studiously avoids me because he knows my Raptor can do everything his Jeep can do better and faster than his wannabe silly fragile toy. At least he hasn't shown up with ducks yet. LOL

By the way... Yes... I've owned a Jeep and couldn't get rid of it fast enough because it seemed to like my mechanics shop way better than our offroad areas around here. That's not to mention the noisy cab with poor insulation, the top that leaked in heavy rains and the poorly designed suspension that didn't traverse any terrain properly or comfortably.

It was also underpowered in comparison to my RR that I now have and although admittedly looked pretty cool, that seemed to be its only redeeming feature.

I went to a few Jeep club meets and the manbun crowd and fat redneck girls with several kids in tow with no man visible pretty much let me know I was in with the wrong crowd. Also it seemed that almost all of the Jeeps that ever had any dirt/mud on them were heavily modified.

Depends on the model and the use. My TJ suites us fine as a toad, beach cruiser, trail runner and even as a grocery getter when camped out of town. Can park anywhere, and don't need no stinkin back seat. There is nothing else I could trade it for that would suit my needs better.

Problem is people buying the wrong vehicle for daily drivers. Like young families going into debt for a big fuel guzzling 4x4 truck for their daily so they can bring home a Christmas tree every year, or a new lifted Jeep so they can traverse those speed bumps in the mall parking lot at speed.

When I commented on this yesterday I read it back and maybe I was being a bit harsh but shortly after posting it I was at Costco looking for a parking spot and the first vehicle I passed was a white base model 4Dr Wrangler damn near could have passed for a mail jeep. I think my wife's AWD MKS would probably do about as well off road but hey they had their entire dash lined up full of little toy duckies so at least they had that going for them.

Wranglers are great for tow vehicles and they turn like nothing else, that is for sure. My son and I were talking about that at texas a&m corpus while we were gathering info for him to start there. He was commenting in how much it's going to suck to park his f150 there versus when he used to pick his gf up in his tj
