Mud Flaps, yay or nay?

I selected the factory mudflaps when I ordered my XLT last year and I like them. They blend in and aren't that noticeable, and they do add a level of protection.

I have had mud flaps on almost all my vehicles, but the Raptor looks so good without them, I am hesitating getting some. I will rarely take it off road. There is plastic trim protecting the lower rear, and the running boards adds protection up front. But at about $150 for a full set of Weather Techs, it's not expensive protection. Do you all have them? Which ones? How do they look?

Interesting. Although, if they were mandatory, they should have come with them. Like here in Va., front license plate holders are required, and are a line item on the window sticker.

Even with running boards? The front mud flaps would help with that?

I pulled my running boards off and definitely wish I'd gotten the flaps first.

I added the factory flaps after I constantly kept hearing rocks clatter around on the sides/under the truck on the freeway. Haven't heard a thing since. I went oem because I preferred their look, but I hear there are now oem knockoffs for much cheaper. (There's a thread on here somewhere, sorry I don't have the time to find it right now). They were relatively easy to install, but the plastic push pin connector dealies can be annoying. They like to not back out without help. I used an awl to get under the screw head of a couple and get the threads to grab.

Haven't seen the FORD flaps so I don't know.

I ordered the Musolgy flaps first but returned them as they are not flat on the wheel side so they would collect mud and most likely get ripped off easier by debris hitting the lip:

Obviously, it's your truck and you know your needs and taste best.

My RR came with the Ford Performance factory mudflaps. While part of me agrees with you regarding the aesthetic appeal of the truck without the mudflaps, over time they have really grown on me from a visual standpoint. More so than aesthetics, I really wanted an extra layer of protection to the areas of truck that are prone to rock chipping/dings and so I almost certainly would have purchased the FP mudflaps if they weren't included on my RR.

I don't think there is a bad choice here. Really, it's just about figuring out how you weigh and balance aesthetics vs. utility; I can easily appreciate the RR with or without the mudflaps.

Agreed. Did not want to do it, but live in snow country. Flaps do not keep things pristine, but without them, looked like mud was sprayed on with a hose. I know the holes in OEM running boards contributed, but it is much better and I don’t notice them at all anymore.

They are mandatory here in Alberta Canada, but are not included in the base, must be added on.
