Hi all,

I have mentioned elsewhere that yesterday I brought home my new Cactus Gray 2024 Ranger. Ford was offering a $3k discount and the dealer offered an additional $2.5k. And they threw in a set of floor mats. All-in-all pretty close to wholesale. The truck has the 2.7L engine, FX4, advanced trailer towing package and running boards. I love it, and so does the family.

Now, what comes next. Here is the list I have compiled:

Must have minor items:
  • Door sill protector
  • Tailgate letters
  • I-piece lug nuts
  • Trailer hitch plug cover
  • Center console cover
  • Center console organizer
Must have major items:
  • Tonneau cover
  • Bed mat and/or bed liner
  • Mud flaps
Might want minor items:
  • Hood protector
  • Screen protector
Might want minor items:
  • Cargo Management System
  • Swing-out toolboxes
Am I missing anything important? Any suggestions a

nd any advice for which products to buy or avoid would be very much appreciated...

If it doesn't already have it, get the bed spray lined. I didn't on my '21, and even with the bed mat (not bed rug), the sides and bulkhead got severely scratched up.
I work in a dirty environment, so I also installed waterproof Cordura seat covers from Shear Comfort on the front. Not cheap but fit well and are very tough.

Thanks. I have had a few people recommend having the bed spray-lined. I wish it wasn't so expensive...

Minor thing, but if you are putting on a bed cover, you might appreciate a seal for the tailgate. There are huge gaps in the tailgate for water and dust intrusion and a tailgate seal really helps. I put on the Keko Seal, and I think it works well from my experience so far, but there are alternatives from Ford, ESI and others that might be just as good.

I went with the Ford Modular bed liner and the “Ranger” bed mat. Cheaper than spray liner with full protection. You can always go spray liner later. A minor want for me was grill lights. I bought a cheaper set from Amazon but was pleased with how they look.

Thanks. Those door sills are off Amazon right? Were the grill lights difficult to install?

My priorities were:
- Level
- Wheels / Tires
- Tonneau
- Bed mat
- Floor mats
- Subwoofer
- Various visual things (blacked out emblems, exhaust tip, tinted side markers)

Now I'm digging into the engine and auxillary lighting while I wait for a real suspension upgrade.

Its called personalizing because its personal to your own uses for the truck! I have very specific uses for my Ranger and I love seeing how others personalize it to their own use cases (I'm never going to need Portals on my ranger but I loved looking at the poster who added them to theirs!). Personally I will never understand why people put a center console cover or window vent covers on their truck, but if they have outrageous eczema on their elbows or if they smoke cigarettes and need the venting, those touches would address their personal needs - so have at it!

One thing that I added and liked is hood struts from Redline. It makes it easy keeping the hood up and you don't have to work around the manual prop rod. It's definitely a safety and quality of life thing for me.

I gave the fam a list of minor but helpful items for Father's Day. I'll be posting a list of everything I added next week. I always keep a "gift list" of important but not urgent or expensive items for such occasions.

Nice looking Ranger :like: I got the same $3k off MSRP deal Memorial Day weekend. Also got the $500 rebate(1st responder/military/college grads). I bought the rubber Ranger bed mat ($150)and am happy with it so far. I dont use the ranger for heavy duty hauling or work . I am planning on getting the all weather floor mats before winter because the carpet mats look crappy when wet:sunglasses:
