I was imagining what it would be like to change a tire at night with black lug nuts.

I stuck with chrome, one piece.

I added a half inch spacer with silver extended lug nuts. What is the torque on the lug nuts? I read 100 ft lbs and I also read 150 ft lbs. What have you heard or read?

If you read your Ford Owners Manual:
Wheel Nuts

Ford Ranger What color are your lug nuts imagen2
WARNING: When you install a wheel, remove any corrosion, dirt or foreign materials present on the mounting surfaces of the wheel or the surface of the wheel hub, brake drum or brake disc that contacts the wheel. Make sure to secure any fasteners that attach the rotor to the hub so they do not interfere with the mounting surfaces of the wheel. Installing wheels without following these steps can cause the wheel nuts to loosen and the wheel to come off while your vehicle is in motion, resulting in loss of vehicle control, personal injury or death.
Bolt Size lb.ft (Nm)1 M12 x 1.5 100 lb.ft (135 Nm)
1Torque specifications are for nut and bolt threads free of dirt and rust. Use only our recommended replacement wheel nuts and or wheel bolts.
Retighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque within 100 mi (160 km) of driving after the wheels were removed.

150 ft lbs can cause them to to fail and snap off prematurely.

My truck came with lug nuts and in SoCal I don't worry about them seizing, so I'm running OEMs and a thicker wallet.
