Traded in my clean 2012 F150, paid cash for the difference. I don't finance vehicles.

Navy Federal Credit Union has the best rates by far! If you or anyone in your family (parents, kids, grandparents, etc.) has served in any branch of the US armed forces you can become a member for free.
Or if you are a member you can refinance with them at 4.28 for up to 60 months and get a $200 bonus if you financed elsewhere. 😀

Sometimes thats a good idea and other times not. I have purchased two vehicles where the APR was 1% and 2.99%. For both of those, I can put my money to work at a higher return than that so it would be financial foolery to pay cash.
But, a lot of people are paying 7%-10% APR which is crazy.

3.49% for 48 months via Idaho CU last September here in WA State. Gave me 40K trade-in on my F-150 & tossed in another $5K.
Payments are under $400/month but pay $600 to pay it off quicker.

Paid cash for my 2024 lariat. If interest rates were less than my ROI on investments then I would have financed it and used someone else's money.

I never take loans above 4% and I'm right at that through my CU. I can get a higher return than 4% through a broad market ETF, so I'd rather have that $60k in my brokerage account versus sitting in a depreciating asset.

I also track the value through Carmax and Carvana over time and I'll make extra payments in case the loan gets into negative equity. That way if something happens to the truck, I walk away, almost like a lease.
