The 10R60. Same for both the base and Raptor models.

I think it is the 10R80 like in the old Ranger.

All the Rangers already out in the ROW have the 10r60, including the Raptors. Broncos all have the 10r60, including the Raptors. The US spec 6g most certainly has the 10r60.

Not quite, our diesels all use the 10R80. The Raptor definitely uses the 10R60.

I stand corrected. I wonder if itā€™s a combo of torque and tow rating type thing then. The Raptor and Broncos all have a lower tow rating than the diesel rangers. Maybe there is hope for the 10r80 in some 6g US rangers afterall.

Iā€™m still skeptical as Ford supposedly designed the 10r60 to be lighter and more efficient which I would imagine they would want to achieve on anything they can get away with putting it in. Ford seems bent on saving everywhere they can on the US spec trucks.

I wonder what the Mexico spec trucks have. They have the 2.3 gas motors. Hmm.

Engineer said 10R60 in a TFL video I watched. I was surprised they used the lightest duty trans of the bunch for a truck with a 7,500 lb. tow rating. Even the little Mustang pony car gets a better trans.

I suspect theyā€™re giving us the 60 because they donā€™t want folks tuning the RR to beat a stock F150 Raptor. Seeing what you can get just from bolt-ons proves the 2.7/3.0 is an absolute unit. Limiting the power output thru the transmission would defer most people from spooling it up to 500hp since itā€™d need a custom rebuild to handle it.

RR will easily beat the F150 Raptor even with that transmission. F150 Raptor has 450HP, RR is at 405HP. Won't be hard the get 45 more hp out if it. At the same HP output RR will be beating the F150 due to lighter weight. And even then a tune will likely give you closer to 500 than 450. Hennessey just announced the Ramger Veliciraptor with 500hp

Agreed. Would concern me a bit from the towing perspective.

if I wanted a vehicle primarily for towing, it wouldnā€™t be a mid-sized truck. My last truck was a F250 with a Black Widow package. With the 6.7L diesel engine in stock form it had 1,050 hp! It came with a 3ā€ receiver and a tow rating north of 26k pounds.

Iā€™ll tow with the Ranger, but itā€™ll just be occasional and probably wonā€™t exceed 6k pounds. Im comfortable the lighter transmission will handle this well, if not itā€™s under warranty and Ford can deal with it. šŸ˜Ž
