The 5g has the 10r80, are they taking it down to the 10r60 for the 6g? If so, source?
Yep. In this video he was told (presumably by the Ford marketing team that’s there with him in the background) that the 10r80 was dropped across the whole line for the 10r60 (for the US gasoline engines at least, as the diesels get the 10r80 in the rest of the world).

Man... Thanks for the video. I don't know how to feel about it. On one hand I've heard the 10r60 has smoother shifting, but the 10r80 is beefier and used in the F-150.

As long as you are not tuning the 2.7L the 10r60 is fine. I scanned the internet and could not find many problems with the automatics on the Bronco. . In the beginning they did have a clunking issue but that seems resolved. It looks like you have to be easy on the tranny when putting it in gear, letting it engage.

10R60 has a max torque spec of 600Nm which is 443 ft/lbs
2.7 has a max output of 415 ft/lbs on premium fuel
If I go with a ranger, a tune is definitely on the table. As well as other power/reliability related mods

It looks like the 2.3L clutch fan has been thrown back in the 1970's parts bin. That should be a nice improvement.

The 2.3 is enough for anyone using the truck for it's intended purpose... that being said I'm taking my talents to the 2.7. I want more power without a tune because... I just do. I'll also be running larger tires than stock. It should sound better, and I think the 2.7 has both direct and port injection which is a huge benefit imo.

What's the huge benefit of the direct and port injection. The main benefit is that it washes the top of the valves. Prevents carbon build up over a long period of time. Maybe if you were going to change the injectors it may give you access without taking the motor a part.

What about the 3.0 in the Raptor? Supposedly coming with 430 ft-lb of torque. The internet says the 10r60 maxes out at 443 ft-lb. That seems awful close. Then again, the Bronco Raptor makes 440 ft-lb and also has the 10r60 so…

Does the Raptor not use a different tranny. I think it has the 10r80

Is it a modified transmission or the same one in the standard Ranger.
