Wanted to share some thoughts around hard folding Tonneau covers. I found most
to be more expensive than I wanted to spend.
BUT! I wanted to find quality with functionality.
So…. I landed at the Real Truck site and selected their own brand, the Gator EFX. Folds and locks with tailgate, seals nicely, panels lock in place and the complete assembly is quickly removable allowing full bed usage Their customer support is great and told be they’ve sold over 500 of these…..

Does it allow for mounting bed rails?

How’s water intrusion? Experienced it in hard rain yet? I’ve been considering this one but worried that I might want access to the whole bed that the Bakflip MX4 allows. Still undecided but need to make a decision soon.

Looks super nice! I’m thinking about a bed cover for my 2024 XLT. Is your bed a 60 incher?

Post a pic of the clips that the struts are stowed in. If the clips are plastic then they tend to break leaving the strut to hang down in the bed. When searching for hard tri-fold tonneau covers It's best to look for the rubber clips that stow the struts.

No water in bed, seals good, but? I sealed front outside corners with clear silicone.

Struts ? Hmmm not sure what you’re referencing.

C'mon man... There's two struts. One on each side of the bed. When they are not in use they are stowed away into place with clips.

No, this model does not have struts like the more expensive MX4 model from your screenshot.

Interesting... I thought all hard tri-folds had struts but I see now that the Gator EFX does not.

The gator EFX only allows two of the three panels to fold back the third is attached.
Easy access to 2/3 of the bed. For full access cover must be removed.

Thanks for posting this. I was leaning toward a hard roll-up cover to allow use of the full bed, but I see this one (and maybe other try-fold covers) can be removed. How easy is it to remove? They say it's easy on the website but they don't show removal in their video.

I wouldn't mind saving a few hundred bucks.

Many models have a couple clamps up front with fasteners that allow tightening/removing by hand. Takes a couple minutes to remove the tri-fold section.

Is that secure when the tailgate is closed, or can people open it?
