After learning some new details I am going to have to apologize to you guys for spreading information which is not entirely accurate regarding the tune and any potential warranty issues which may arise.

1st: Any dealership which receives your vehicle for service WILL KNOW in no uncertain terms, that it has been tuned...they will not need access to your vehicle to know this, it will come up automatically on the OASIS report which is generated every time a vehicle is written up for service.

2nd: the OASIS flag is generated when your procal/voucher is married to your vin. EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT INSATLLED THE TUNE or if you flash back to stock, or even replace your PCM w/an unflashed brand new in box one, your vin will still show this flag! I am NOT saying that this flag voids any potential warranty claims...only stating that it DOES EXIST, and AFAIK there is NO WAY to remove it.

I got this info from a dealer tech who I know well, and believe it is 100% accurate. My RR has not been flagged yet, here is the OASIS report from my Bronco which has been tuned for well over a year. Neither of us knows how long it takes to get into the system. Wish this wasn't how it worked, but it is

EDIT: I have double checked this info with a second source:

I'm a little confused on the "Verify State Reg. May Be Eligible For Cal. Emissions WTY" part. Does that mean they plan on making this available for use in California at some point? Forgive me if this has been covered already. I live in California and reading all the results of the tune and not being able to get it is killing me!

That has nothing to do with the tune, that's a seperate warning to check that the vehicle is registered in CA if repairing something under CA emissions warranty that would not be covered in other states. So you get no tune, but lucky you! You get extra emissions warranty! YAY!

Damn. One can hope! Super excited about extra emissions and no tune!

Anyone else noticed the oil pressure shown on the ProCal is significantly different than that shown in the instrument cluster? The instrument cluster shows the reading is in PSI. The ProCal doesn’t list the measurement but not sure what it could be other than PSI. Haven’t seen any options within the ProCal to select a different measurement. At idle where the instrument cluster oil pressure is steady, the ProCal still fluctuates noticeably.

I attended the Raptor Rally last week and stopped by the Ford Performance pop-up. I asked him about the CA CARB exception submission. He shared that the Ford Performance team continues to prepare for the required process to request the exception. He wasn’t sure on timing but it seemed like it was months, not years. He wasn’t part of the team specifically working on it. As I shared earlier in this thread, there is precedence for Ford successfully receiving an exception (from the CARB board), even on a variant of this 3.0L twin turbo with a milder tune for the Explorer ST. I‘m gonna guess there’s enough influencers and customer’s in CA to make it worthwhile to do it asap.

Hi gang, traded in my 2017 Raptor for 24' RR. Little getting used to with size and handling but definitely growing on me....scheduled the tune next Friday. They took $100 off the procal and took $20 off and hr. So will probably be around $1k from dealer installed. Loving the current power but looking forward for this tune.

Wasting your money paying a dealer to install, but you do you…

To keep the warranty it has to be a dealer or a certified mechanic. Quit being a clown. If there are no certified mechanics around its all they got.
They can only deny coverage if the tune was installed incorrectly…
It’s very easy to do yourself.
There is no part of the install where a mechanic needs to register anything with Ford!

Yes, there's something different about the oil pressure reported in the instrument cluster. It's almost as if this engine has a variable oil pressure bypass valve (which is entirely possible, I guess), and the pressure on the IC is not the measured pressure, but the "desired" or "commanded" pressure by the PCM.

If you'll notice, the pressure fluctuates with even slight throttle input, well before the engine has had a chance to increase RPM thus driving the mechanical oil pump to build more pressure.

The pressure reported on the Procal is quite different, and the only thing I can think of that would make it that way is that it's actually reporting measured oil pressure.

Theory, not fact.

I really thought we were past this. It’s not about the factory 5/60 or extended warranty. The Ford Performance 3/36 warrant program requires it must be purchased from an authorized Ford Performance distributor and it has to be installed by a Ford dealership or ASE technician.

Warranty aside, how has the tune been for those who have it been?

Please provide actual Ford Motor Company or Ford Performance documentation that backs up your statement.
Screenshots have already been posted on this forum of web chats with Ford Performance rep’s.
Try using the search function.

Again, I’m not aware of of a single Ecoboost engine failure that was denied warranty coverage because the FP tune wasn’t installed by a dealer or ASE mechanic.
Please prove me wrong…
