FYI I was able to remove this white piece with a few tools shown in the picture. There's a part number on the white piece (see pic), but I tried a regular Google search and a Google Lens search and couldn't find anything useful. Maybe someone with a service manual can see if the part number is a standard or shipping piece ;-)

I'm wondering if it's a noise sink (absorb) that goes around the one-way air valve that let's air out of the cab when you shut the door but won't let air in from the outside. ? "If that's where it's located. Just a thought.

Can you give me the link for your bed hook that's in the picture and if you like that particular one ?

That's exactly why it's there. Acoustic treatment to reduce road/driveline noise.
A lot of people have removed it without realizing what it is intended for.
I kept it in place.

I removed it no changes to noise or cabin air movement closing doors
What did change is no more organic debris is piling up in that location.

This is the one I purchased, but I wouldn't recommend it. I can't seem to tighten it enough to stay in place pulling my heavier box I leave in the back. 6 ft Truck Cargo Retriever

Did you ever find anything out on that part? Thanks for the pictures. I just created another post about this damn part ..not realizing I should have searched first before posting.

I never was able to find out more info. However, after driving around for a while I thought it appeared slightly louder without the white piece in place (hard to really tell for sure). To be safe I ended up splitting the white piece in half in each corner and inserted fairly strong magnets (duct tapped them in place). So I can push it in place and it stays there, but can easily pull it out to clean if desired. I ended up sound proofing the whole back wall on the inside which helped too.

It's sole purpose is to attenuate road and tire noise; that's why it's located at the cab vent.
If you like extra noise, feel free to remove it.

I’m not sure I can agree with this. I also have it and it is attached to the bed of the truck and not the cab. One wash, and that piece will act like a sponge. Not to mention all the dust, dirt, grime and leaves it will collect.

It's closed cell foam on the inside, which is waterproof. It reduces wind noise, road noise and resonance and also keeps dirt and debris from getting in-between body panels where it is located. If it didn't have a function Ford wouldn't spend money putting it there. Lets say they pay $2 a truck to put it there...thats going to end up being millions of dollars they paid for it to be there and they literally have meetings and debates over parts that cost a quarter or less in cars like this because that adds up. I also doubt the person who tore theirs out can hear well enough to know better, cause that's total a grandpa move :p. You'd be dumb to remove it based on speculation but people do dumb shit all the time and it's your truck.

It is not closed cell foam or foam of any kind. More fibrous in nature.

Here you go. Sorry for the longer version video, it's the only one I could find that explains the cabin pressure release valve on a truck. I used to work for the company that owns the intellectual property for this concept however they did not make the product. Whatever the purpose of the white fiber pad between our bed and cab is for, I'm "guessing", it has something to do with this valve if that is where ours is located. I haven't physically got down there to look. Cheers!

Only the outer layer of it. (I’m going by other users who previously claimed to have inspected it and said it was closed cell foam with an outer layer of fiber). Regardless, it’s doing what it’s designed to do.

My dealer contacted Ford and they said it is NOT supposed to be there - that is why some trucks have it and some don't. So Dealer pulled the bed on the truck and removed it - seemed extreme way to go about that - but I wasn't paying for it - so didn't care.
