Ford Performance Tune issues

Just wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention. I updated the handheld because there was an update available. Attempted to load the stock tune back on to the RR and now it won’t start. Every light imaginable is lit up on the dash. The handheld is now showing “No ECU Found”. I also plugged the handheld back in to my PC and the VIN isn’t there, but it shows that I have 1 credit. I read on the Explorer forums that Ford Performance has been able to fix this problem for other people so fingers crossed. I’m working with Ford Performance now to attempt to a fix.

IIRC, the updates only update the tuner, not the tune itself. So, there's really no reason to update it if everything already works.
You might have to download your original OEM settings since the S/W was changed in the tuner.

There are no OEM Settings to load. I can’t even load a tune now as it doesn’t read the vehicle. And the device doesn’t have any tunes on it that are visible. You should be able to go back to stock without this happening. I’ve tuned many vehicles with HP Tuners, SCT, and other Pro Cals. You should be able to go back to stock anytime. I wanted to gather some data between stock and the Performance Tune so I had a reason. I’ve never experienced this before. I’m hoping it didn’t brick the ECU

I hope they get it sorted out for you quick. I think I will forgo updating mine as long as it works. But, I have my stock tune backed to my laptop with a MPV3.

I also have the stock tune backed up to an RTD4 but it won’t work either. That’s why I think the ECU is toast

What about a complete power-down of the vehicle to ensure the ECU is shutdown? Then with power reapplied, there would be a fresh boot of the ECU. If the ECU boots to something--FP or OEM, you could figure what to do next.

Make sure you have a charger on it for proper voltage.

OP, did you return the vehicle to stock prior to updating the firmware. I'm not familiar with the Ford/Livernois tuner, however SCT recommends returning to stock before doing firmware updates to the tuner.
