It's run by the 400 watt inverter so not very much.

A laptop will be fine. What you cannot run on 400 watts is anything that makes heat or cold and most power tools. 400 watts is just over 3 amps. you can run chargers and small fans and lights.

It is very selective on what you can and cannot use. And full power is in Park, shared power in Drive. Check the owner's manual out for 120V power. Apparently not a true sine wave AC.

the AC power outlet in the bed is shared with the outlet at the back of the console between the seats, combined they can't exceed 400watts, the rating of the inverter

the inverter is under the drivers seat

I assume you have less power in drive because there are things being driven electrically in the engine and the output from the alternator is not enough to power that and the 400 watts at the inverter in all cases

laptop would be fine, but again, the engine has to be running for the inverter to operate

but if you want to charge the laptop or someone in the backseat is using one while you drive, it will be a handy feature

I find the powered outlet 12V, usb, and AC are convenient for charging things

says right on the plug 400W. that's also 400w shared with in cab. system is 400w max, not 400w each. and it can run an air compressor

A 400 watt inverter will power devices at or under 3.3 amps. While it’s a neat selling point maybe, in reality it is grossly underpowered for what many think about using a 120V outlet for in a truck. It certainly won’t run any power tools like circular saws or chopping saws. It isn’t going to power even the smallest portable welder.
It can run an 18v battery charger, but possibly not a rapid charger depending on brand and style. It’ll charge cell phones and laptops. It’ll run a mini compressor, some lighting for a camp site, some automotive trickle chargers. It might run some automotive type fridges. But most of these things can be ran off of the 12v plug inside the center condole, or the usb plugs inside of your vehicle. Plus you have to have your vehicle running to use the 120V outlet. I’m sure the overlanding group has found some unique and very helpful uses for the 120v outlet, but outside of this group, most will probably never use it.

Exactly why I didn't pay for it. Plus you don't get the 12 volt outlet with the package, which was the best part, so why bother? For the console phone cooker? No thanks I like my Magsafe much better and I installed my own 12 volt outlet in the bed.

I never paid for it either. the xlt's in canada. came standard with it. its not on my window sticker, but when I looked at the build sheet in the ford software you csn buy access for to look at the factory service manual and stuff, it shows as there. and on fordpro canada it stated all canadian 2025 xlt's it came as standard. I do see on ford canada, its now an option. i havent seen if ford pro has updated their site or not yet, but a few weeks ago it wasnt for the ranger. We also cant buy a 4x2. 4x4 is the only option for driveline.

edit. nope still no 2026 ranger on the ford pro canada site.

probably the best way to find out what it does it to plug in whatever you are wondering about and try it.

my nissan titan would let me run all the lights and the power roll out awning on my rv. i didn't try the ac since i was trying to pack it up to head home but i imagine that would have been to much.

but, the point is, everyone said it wouldn't un anything on the RV, yet it did

I used my bed outlet once to power a 30 watt soldering iron to fix a broken wire in our Christmas lights on our gate - too far for an extension cord.
