FX4 Suspension package.....what do you think?

I had this on 2 other Rangers so don't really have the standard suspension to compare to from experience.

They’re different, but only in minor ways. I think the FX4 is a good deal for the price and everything it includes, but it’s not cutting edge tech or anything.

OTOH, here’s a Raptor strut

It’s odd I’d call that a shock, but I can’t find a specific fx4 shock on ford parts.

raptor, 2wd, lariat, 4wd but no fx4?

Supposedly FX4 has different damping. If you search reviews, enough people have commented on differences in ride quality, better damping with the FX4 shocks

so according to ford parts canada. the xl/xlt fx4 for the 2.3, the part #'s are different non fx4. then the xlt 2.7 fx4 part number is different yet again, I say the lariat 2.7 fx4 is another part number aswell.

Yea I think starting for the 2026 models you can get an XL with the FX4 package.

For someone like me who does just enough off roading to go to mountain property, the FX4 has always been sufficient. But I don’t go for performance off-roading and never felt the need for more. My 2 nickels worth (since the penny is on its way out, thoughts are more expensive now)

USA calls fx4 special suspension I guess. Interesting to me that the regular lariat 4x4 trim has a different shock versus the Xlt. The coils for 4x4 seem the same for all trims with 2.3l. I’m guessing the 2.7l gets a different shock and coil because of the weight difference.

the fx4 package must be pure profit for Ford. Although you do get the plates and a locking rear

It's hard to say what FX4 'tuned offroad suspension' really means. Maybe strut internals are different or spring rates are different. But I can say my '24 FX4 rides better than my '21 RWD.

4x4 and 4x2 trucks each get different shocks. FX4 gets yet another different shock. My guess is that there are only minor valving differences between the three.

If I could have ordered the FX4 I probably would have. It wasn’t available on the XL 2025. Nevertheless, the shocks on my XL feel fine.

mine too. my ruck rides so smooth compared to all the other 6th gen rangers i have ever ridden in.

The "look" of the FX4 shock will be the same as the non FX4 because they are the same diameter. The FX4 has a totally different dampening set up.
