I love my 24, but in 40k, it’s had an engine and a transmission replaced under warranty already.
How did that settle with you? Did they do a good job on the r & r? Might force me back to Toyota if the OCD related brain damage was serious enough?

it might feel like death by a thousand cuts with the recalls we’ve had thus far, but if you think a Tacoma is better with regard to reliability then take some time and read what owners are actually saying. Toyota has had plenty of issues with their new tundras and tacomas, and many are far more serious than a pinched wire or software updates. Instead of jumping out of the proverbial frying pan into the fire, trading your Ranger for a Tacoma is at best like jumping out of the frying pan into another frying pan.
I rented a Tacoma for a week before buying my Ranger, that was enough for me. Engine did not sound good, surprised at Toyota. My brother bought a Ridgline, long story but they gave him another new one as a replacement. Surprised at Honda.

Toyota’s truck division is a basket case these days for sure. Some of that Tundra stuff is unbelievable.

Yes. Had a good run with Toyota, but they lost their magic.

Im familiar with tundra issues n 24 tacomas. No thks. One reason i went with ford, thus 2.3 has been around for yrs. They redo it the yr i buy one.Thought tacoma issues resolved 25 n 26. If my new truck requires a new engine ,cheaper to redo my old 93 vs new truck.I talked myself out f it lots f times. Getting hard to find some parts for 93 or replacement alternators, starters, etc are junk built in chin.

The dealership was fantastic through the whole process. The trans lost a gear in August of last year. Then it started getting a little low on coolant. They found it in cyl #2 in January.

Looked up my VIN, this recall not listed for my truck.
Recall for sunvisor and I just got the recall for the seat mount. Minor stuff compared to engine issues. These recalls are just irritating, not a major issue.

i don’t think it’s got the vins in the system yet for this recall. Cause based on the letter I’m on it. Late Feb build and mine doesn’t show for that recall

Mine is a 25, I bought in Nov. From what I recall, some 26 models affected? Have to check recall details again. I havent heard if anyone in rhe forum having issues with this engine, yet.

It's only 1,704 vehicles that are affected. Just because your build date falls within that window doesn't mean that you are on the recall. Most people won't be on this recall list. The fact that one user who commented on this thread DID have the recall attached to his VIN leads me to believe that they do have it in the VIN lookup system.

Mine built late Feb 25 and not on the VIN lookup list. Fingers crossed.
