Ford is discontinuing the 2.7L on their F150: 2027 Ford F-150 Ditches 2.7L V6 EcoBoost For 3.0L As Standard Engine

Do you think the Ranger is next? It may be the last Ford product with the 2.7L, and if so, do you think they'll put in a 3.0 or make it only 2.3/3.0?

No telling. It may be that they want to reserve the 2.7 for smaller vehicles like Ranger and Bronco.

Ford is replacing the 2.7L EcoBoost with a 3.0L V6 in the F-150 by 2027, but the Ranger is likely to retain the 2.7L for now due to recent investments. Should the 2.7L be phased out of the Ranger, Ford is expected to shift to a 2.3L/3.0L engine lineup rather than adding a middle-tier engine..

Doubt it's going away on the T6/Ranger/Bronco platform. 3.0 will remain the most premium option on these, so the 2.7 is a nice in between.

If they did that it would be a detuned 3.0 otherwise not point in the Raptor unless it's neutered to be a trim like Tremor.

While the 2.7 liter is going away in the F150 I believe it will stay in the Ranger. It's a good engine with dual fuel injection which helps keep the intake valves clean. My only concert is the timing belt.

Until someone can show me documented failures of the oil pump belt, I'm not going to worry.
This is what it looks like on a 2018 F150 2.7 with 250K miles.

That belt is in need of replacement, lots of cracking in that pic, would hate to see what the opposite side of that belt looks like.

I'm surprised that's posted as a good example. It's not even ten years old now. Although I probably won't own my Ranger past ten years so maybe it doesn't matter.
