Ok when I get the truck back I will do that. I am asuming i can just disconnect the battery to clear the trans adaptive tables?

Is this what you did?
Pretty sure you need ForScan to initiate the trans re-learn. Disconnecting the battery won’t wipe its memory

Also a ST and RR owner. I prefer the driving dynamics of the ST and riding suspension of the RR. The ST is a fantastic machine. If it was my car, I wouldn't need the RR but wife wont let me touch the ST 😈

Ok so we are getting somewhere. I'm going to talk to the dealer about resetting it if not I'll go down the forescan rabbit hole and figure it out. Minimally I will have the shop foreman drive the truck with me so he can at a minimum document it.

Same boat. Mine shifts rougher than a cob.

The only time mine shifts oddly is after shifting from reverse to drive 1-2 gear seems to hesitate. Otherwise it doesn't have any hard shifts unless I'm in sport mode or beating on it.

Here's something to chew on...

  • Repeat Steps 3 through 9 six additional times.
W...T...F?!?
Be better off with a manual Tremec.

  • Continue to accelerate (may apply slightly more throttle after 7-8 upshift at 32-38 mph
The shifting excercise is apparently to calibrate clutch behavior.

If you do the above let me know how it goes.
See, that was something I hated on my 5G, 7th gear at 35. It's why I always drove in tow mode.
Doesn't seem to be that way on 6G.

Coming from a 19 Lariat 2.3 the RR shifts like butter in normal mode and in sport mode its shifts great 95% of the time. The other 5% 4 to 5 and 5 to 6 can be slightly jarring.

oh and I’m old too! Hahah

The RR transmission shifting was total crap before the ProCal install, you cant deny that. I dont have a comparable experience with the Explorer. I dont know if it is better or worse, but all I can say is get the ProCal tune if not for the power though it is fun, for the better shift points.

The 10r60 in my rr is way smoother than the 10r80 that was in my '19. The 10r60 in the rr isn't as smooth as the one in my '23 bronco. I was thinking the rangers have a lot more towing limits than the bronco and maybe the explorer st. The bronco is only 3,500 lbs. This may affect the shift programming. It'd be interesting to hear from someone on the inside about it.
