Is it true that the oil that comes in the Raptor is not synthetic? And if thats the case, for future oil changes is it the same or do they switch to a synthetic type of oil?

Im not really a fan of OEM oil so I normally like to do it myself or supply it for the techs if I bring the vehicle in. I usually like to put Motul or Amsoil or something like that in my vehicles.

What do you all recommned?

I've used Ford oil for over 200k miles in my Focus (~20 oil changes). I'm fine with their syn-blend or whatever they use for the Raptor.

IMO, for turbo engines, full synthetic oil that meets all fords oil specs and oem motorcraft or wix oil filter. My oil choice is castrol full synthetic every 5k miles. No doubt opinions vary all over the place and that’s ok

I used Motorcraft synthetic blend on my first oil change. Next oil change and all after will be Motorcraft full synthetic. My oil change intervals will be a lot more often than Ford's recommendation, especially if I ever go e85.

I run Redline in my CTS-V but that's what the engine builder recommended. I don't know that I'll run that in the Raptor unless I start modding it.

Oil can be tricky and somewhat just an opinion based recommendation. I swore by Mobil 1 in my modded Jeep GC SRT8 and it was great. Same brand in the CTS-V has ended many valvetrains (supposedly). Explorer ST forums will probably get you a lot of research and opinions on what's best for this engine.

I go with whatever if the full synthetic is on sale. Mobil 1, valvoline, castrol are all fine with me. Just get the correct viscosity.

I used castrol for the first change at ~1000 mi.

I don’t really care what they put in it. I bought the full Service and Maintenance plan from Ford so they will have to take full ownership for whatever happens for the next 10 years.

I wasnt even offered a maintenance or service plan by my dealership. All I got were two complimentary oil chages in the first 12 months.

It’s an extra $5k at the least. I could get you the exact number if you want. You can buy it from Ford at anytime but it can get pro-rated. Ask your dealership about it and ask them why they never offered it to you. Then if you want it make them honor the original price. They cannot fuck around with you because this comes directly from Ford - the dealership doesn’t make a dime on it. As you get maintenance and service they get reimbursed from Ford so it’s a win win for both of you.

I forgot to mention that the two plans are completely 100% transferable to a new vehicle

Fords standard oil is motorcraft semi synthetic for gasoline engines. Works just fine for any use. Of course full synthetic is available.

When you say it’s available - do you mean when you get it changed at the dealership to ask for full synthetic?

You have to ask for full synthetic.
