Hi all,

I was trying to wire arb compressor switch to up-fitter switches. (Switch 3 and 4 near the bed)

2 things:
No power to any wires with the engine running. The switches appear to be working, they turn orange when I engage, but when I use a light to test, i get no power at all.

2 the colors don’t match, wtf 2 brown, one black green one black grey.

Are you sure you have the right wires? They should be the correct colour and also have large white tags attached to them saying 'Compressor' and 'Aux' next to the wire caps.

Have you checked the AUX fuse box?

The ARB Compressor still needs to be wired directly to battery, as it draws around 80amp peak. If you have connected it directly to AUX wires you've likely blown the aux switch fuses.

Should just connect the switch output to the AUX.

If all of the above is checked and its not working, def head to the dealer.

So I also had some issues with the wiring in the rear location. Much more difficult to find the the 2 front locations. Like you, both of my hot wires were brown. I clipped one and got lucky (was looking for #4). The two striped wires should be ground wires, but I didn’t use either. I grounded to the frame with the bolt I was using.

It was a head scratcher to find two brown wires. Good luck, hope this helps.

Can also confirm two brown wires for Aux 3 and 4. The black wires with stripes are grounds. Had to use a test light to confirm which brown was which but both are working for my additions (Compressor and Back-Up Lights)

Aux 3 and 4 are both brown in the back. Printed information is wrong. Also only rated at 15A each.

I have installed an ARB compressor on my ranger under the bonnet. as someone said, you need to wire it directly to the battery for the main power source (it will burn your fuses or switches otherwise as it draws too much current). however you will power the relay via your switches. I wired it to AUX6 and all works as a charm.
there are a couple of tricks though, and they are well explained in the manual. only the AUX under the bonnet are wired, the others need to be wired. and then you have a switch in the fuse box that has two positions in order to have the AUX switches powered with or without ignition.
as for the wiring routes...I did place my compressor in the empty space purposefully built for the second batter/compressor/accessory. then you need to route the cables from there to the battery, I followed the front plastic cover of the radiator (remove it and you will find some good space to put everything there). the OEM ARB wires are of the right length. do keep in mind you will throw away half of that wire bundle cause ARB provides cable to wire battery and a switch that does not exist normally in cars. as our ranger does have it, you will just forget about a bunch of wires

Interesting difference for European market. US trucks are wired in back and work on accessory or when truck is running. I also used a tester and was lucky with first try to get switch 4 that I preferred. Hardest part was finding them. Illustration for rear location was not as clear as 2 front locations.

I believe you have the same option in US in the fuse box. enabling or disabling the switches to be powered under ignition or accessory (or both)

I did the arb install in the rear under the truck bed. Used the expedition essentials arb extension wiring hardness and used aux 4. Had the same confusion both brown and guessed and got aux 4 correctly. Wire it to the purple signal/switch wire from the Arb harness. All u need to keep is the big red power cables, small and large black ground cables (both to battery/ground) and the purple switch wire. Thats it.

How do you “enable or disable” as you mentioned?
Thanks
Gary

You move a fuse in a position or the other
Dear joordan,
I'm new here in this forum. I own a 2025 Ranger Platinum (German version) with the aux-switches built in.
My question is, if you could post a photo of how and where to move the fuse in a different position. I cannot find such a possibility in my Ranger's fuse-box. It seems that this option is not available in the german version. See the foto of my fuse box:
Ford Ranger Auxiliary switch help 1765363616440-m4

My intention is to install a marten protection in the motor compartment that can be switched on and off by the aux-switch 1. I already found the right cable nearby the fuse-box to connect it, but therefore I need to have permanent power via the aux-switch 1.
Would be great if you or somebody else could help further.
Thanks in advance,
Mzatrix

Thanky for the fast reply. Unfortunately this link does not help further.
Quote: "These switches operate when the vehicle is running or from battery power, depending on the switchable fuse AUXF4's location in the upfitter relay box."
There is not such an AUXF4 switchable fuse visible- nor in that description, neither in my fuse box.

That is why I was asking for a photo of a box where this is visible. I am curious of how this fuse would look like to find it in my car.
