So I like to plan ahead as much as possible so that when the time comes for things, I have already made the decision and I just need to go through the motions so-to-speak. (ADHD)

While I won't need new tires for a while, I was looking at different (a bit bigger) sizes and the different tires available in each size. I really like the KO3's just for how rugged they look. They look like a mf truck tire.

But alas, in reality, I have a 2WD Ranger XLT that will primarily only ever see pavement. Would KO3's still be good, or should I be looking at less rugged (and less fun) looking tires?

i noticed they are fairly heavy also as i have been looking at upgrading wheels and tires. since i want to keep good gas mileage, they got cut from the ones i look at.

my truck is 2wd also but like noted, prerunners are 2wd and race all over in the desert so you can surely run those if you wish to

As others have pointed out they are heavier and will affect your MPG, they are not so great in wet weather. Also there is a break in period where they will feel unbalanced and you will feel vibrations and hear road noise.

Michelin makes some truck-load rated "truck-looking" tires that I had on my previous SUV that rode a lot nicer than the K03s on my Raptor..

If asthetics is all you are going for, just understand it will be a downgrade from your current set up in every other aspect

Make sure you buy tires that are no more than Load C, which the OEM KO3s are, some of the versions are Load D. You need neither the extra load carrying capacity nor the ride harshness of a tire with stiffer sidewalls. I never had any problems with ride quality, but they are not safe in wet weather, I always go in 4A when the roads are slick, but you do not have that option.

Why did you buy a 2wd truck in the first place?

I got a good deal on this specific truck, and I don't do anything that would require 4wd. I wanted a truck because sometimes I need to haul stuff around (not a lot of stuff at one time), I wanted to be able to pull a small trailer so I could load up my toolbox (diesel mechanic) if I need to, but I also have 3 kids and a wife and would need room for them sometimes, the Ranger fit that perfectly. I would have gotten 4wd if it was available, but was not a feature that I "needed" if that makes sense.

I have been looking at some other tires as well aside from the KO3's, the Falken Wildpeak R/T01's and Yokohama Geolander X-AT's stuck out to me as well and both seem to be better in wet conditions.

Yeah, I don't like Michelin tires, I know they make great semi truck tires because I have put them on a lot of trucks. I will look into them, thanks!

I say run the BFG A/T’s! Why the hell not? It looks good and 99% of most trucks are in 2WD anyways. If you like the more rugged look then it seems like you’ve got your answer.

I would look at the Nitto Terra Grappler G3. Great tire in all conditions, not terribly heavy and looks rugged.

i got a 2wd for the same reasons. try to stay under 40lbs per tire if you still want good gas mileage and do a lot of in town driving. if you live in the country, the weight won't matter as much since you won't do as much stop and go.

i have the Michelin defenders on my older ranger and they are great, though definitely don't look aggressive. super in the rain though
