It is terrible and I leave it off on all my vehicles. Two days ago my opinion was reaffirmed when I had to drive a vehicle about 500 miles that had it on and it almost caused a wreck within the first 40 miles when someone casually merged into my lane and as I am moving over to the left lane it SLAMS on the brakes unnecessarily right as I am starting to get over. I made sure the sensitivity was all the way down rry to keep going with it on and ended up pulling over to turn it off. It is probably a great feature for bad/lazy/distracted/intoxicated drivers, anyone that has better things to do than to be an active and attentive driver.
Well said. I feel this way about most all the so-called "safety" features that are being forced on us. It would be easier to actually learn to drive than master the electronic doodads....

Just wondering what other people thought about, (ACC) Adaptive Cruise Control

I don't like Adaptive Cruise Control. Twice driving down to TN cruising at 70mph some idiot would pull in front of me at a close distance and ACC would jam on the brakes, I tighten the distance and it still happened.

Or if you're coming up on a slow moving car it will throw the anchor out right about the time you're sliding over into the left lane to pass.

A vehicle should only do what I tell it to do, when I tell it to do it.
I had it i an old LAndcruiser, switched it off right away, I think WE need to drive !!!

I have tried it and really don't use cruise control, even on my drive from Virginia to the PNW. I have found when I am literally driving my Ranger I get less tired and I always have a feel for it going on.

I use ACC all the time. On long road trips it helps a lot. When I arrive at my destination I am less tired because I don't have to hit the gas and brake pedals constantly.

Really wanted the 360 Cameras but I couldn't get it without also getting the Adaptive Cruise Control. My wife's Mazda has it and I absolutely hate it.

For the vast majority of passive drivers, it's a great feature. But for anyone that enjoys driving purposefully it's terrible.

I don't mind the ACC. I feel like the automatic braking is slightly more aggressive than I'd like. What really annoys me is the lane assist. I wish I could toggle it so I could turn on cruise control without it activating lane assist. I have all the settings turned down as low as possible but the UI is just annoying. I don't need you to tell me the lane assist is on every time I activate cruise control. It's quite obvious because of the little green lines that appear aside my truck on the dashboard.

Can't you just turn off lane assist with the steering wheel button?
Then save it with the R button?

Well you can turn adaptive cruise control off and use normal. Normal cruise control has been around forever.

you can also disable lane centering.

I had both of the above situations happen and I haven't used it since. For the second one, was coming up on a slow moving vehicle, moved over to pass and the nanny decided to throw out the anchor...which would have been aggravating if that was it, however there was a semi barreling down the left lane at the time and my now 10-15 mph slower Raptor nearly became food for the thing's front bumper. Truck driver was not happy with me as one could imagine.

I liked Audi's implementation a lot going thru ATL rush hour. It started and stopped possibly better than I would have, and really helped me stay relaxed in a maddening 20- something miles of bumper to bumper hell. Ford's is terrible in comparison, so I have it turned off.

I like the adaptive cruise control bur I hate the constant nagging to keep my hands on the wheel.! It only does that if you have the lane assist engaged. My truck is in perfect alignment so it requires very little steering corrections. I wish I could turn off the constant warnings.! Ford should send us all a software update.

I have a hunch people who hate ACC the most just haven't gotten used to it. and won't. It has a learning curve. I actually really like it now that I have over 4k miles with it.
I don't use lane assist unless I am on the freeway. I feel it is only useful there. About 2/3 of my commute is backroads. I usually set the cruise to 5 over the limit and just let it go. Drivers' speeds vary so much on the backroads, this just makes it easy.
I wonder how many people hated cruise control when it first came out. I remember the old-school style that would floor it if you hit resume from a slow speed. That was fun!
