2025 Ranger XLT (RWD only)
2.3 engine
Advanced Tow Package
Locking Rear Differential
Payload is 1728

I wanted it equipped it like that specifically to get a higher payload and having the advanced tow package. --XLT trim level with just two options noted above. We go camping, and in general haul stuff a lot, so wanted that higher payload.s

P.S. I have added the following which eats up 98 lbs of that 1728 payload already.

Rubber Bed Mat - 32 lbs
Tailgate liner - 4 lbs
Splash Guards - 4 lbs
All Weather Floor MAts - 13 lbs
Step Bars - 45 lbs
Ok that is helpful. No spray in bed nor 4WD?

Correct, no spay in bed liner and no 4WD.

I too am interested in payload capacities for various configurations. I'd like to know how much the 4WD adds to a similar configuration. Since the max payload is supposed to be above 1800, I'm assuming the tow package took off a chunk of my payload. Not sure if the locking rear diff detracts - I assume it would be minimal, but I would love to have all these numbers so folks could estimate somewhat close to what their payload should be before buying.

I took a look at the door stickers of the other three rangers on the lot -- they were all 1430 or below -- but one had the 2.7 engine and all hd the 4WD package, one was lariat, and one a raptor, so was hard to tease out what was due to trim level and what was due to engine or 4wd. But in any case, the XLT RWD with the base 2.3L engine had 300 pound more payload than the better equipped Rangers.

Yes, that is a nice set of data. The payload varies quite a bit, but one should be able to tease out the weight of various options with enough examples. That spray-in bed liner seems heavier than I expected. I'll get you the exact vin number and data from the window sticker and doorsill for my 2025 if interested.

On a side note, the Tacoma is a nice off road vehicle I guess, but the reason I went with the Ranger was primarily the larger payload.

As an example, a neighbor has a nice looking 4WD 2023 Tacoma and he let me look at it. It has what looked like the same 5 foot bed as the Ranger. The payload on his sticker was 970! I didn't comment on that to him, as it is a nice looking truck and I did not want to dis it. But doing the math, if one put four people in that truck that could easily use up 700 pounds of that payload, leaving 270 pounds for the bed. Heck my wife and I are 350 pounds together (200 + 150) leaving 600 pounds, which would not be enough for our camping gear.

P.S. When trying to find out your wife's weight, mention it is purely to ensure you are within the payload capacity of your truck. Then run for your life!

Yep. Sold my ‘22 Tacoma (access cab, 6ft, Off Road) for a few reasons, and the 1150lb payload capacity was one of them.

Throw on the overland rack, RTT, bumper/winch, bigger tires, rotopax/hi-lift/maxtrax and those tacos don't have much left for groceries.

As much as I'm a data nerd and fully support what you're collecting, what is your intended use case for a mid-size vs full-size? Must-have's (bed protection, hitch) vs not needed (4x4; skid plates, side steps) vs every pound possible (rear seat delete).. potentially some of the parts listings online would have weights

Between manufacturers, could compare HP/torque vs engine weights, reference set of wheels/tires vs stock

1581 lbs on a 24 XLT 301 FX4 w/ Adv Tech/Tow - the old 2.3L.

My 25 XLT with 300A, advanced tow package, FX4 package, BO package (with 18” wheels) and 2.7l engine is rated at 1352 lbs. I’m sure the fx4 and 18” wheels subtracts a fsir amount from the payload capacity as does the 2.7l engine.

I have a 2024 XLT with equipment group 300A. I also have the rear locking differential, 4x4, and advanced towing package. No spray in bedliner however. My door label says my combined weight capacity should not exceed 1644 lbs. The other door tag rates my GVWR at 6170lb, with the front being 3130lb and the rear being 3573lb.
