Ronin Oil Drain Plug installed on '25 Ranger Raptor (Fitment Concerns)

Not to revive an old thread but I just installed mine and this feels weird. Has anyone had any problems up to now?

32k miles here and no issues. Love how clean my oil changes are.

It looks that way because the OEM plug is a push and turn to lock in place. The aftermarket has to use the same method to lock in place, So the gap is there to allow you to push in and turn to install/remove. The wavy washer pushes the plug out so it doesn't work its way loose. It's just as secure as OEM if not better.

yeah, it adds tension to the threads so it doesn't come loose on its own. you are good

It would take half hour to drain out that hose it comes with . I suck the oil out the dipstick
No mess no drain pan and don't even get under the truck

Late to the party, but just installed mine on a 2026 RR, gap is identical to the OP. All good. No leaks.

Actually it takes about 5 minutes to drain. That gives me enough time to do a proper inspection of the chassis and drive line components.
Something you can't do whilst sucking from above.

During an oil change, even though I have and use the Ronin plug, I take it a step further.

After all the oil has drained out of the pan, I remove the Ronin plug. I inspect the Ronin plug, examine the magnet to see if any abnormal metallic fines/particles are attached, and clean it off.

Removal of the Ronin plug also allows that last little bit of oil to drain out.

I just tried one and it did not fit at all. I have a 10/25 build and it wouldn't even turn. The stock plug is a ML3Z-6730-B and is the way deeper double o ring one. I'm curious how you got one to fit a 26.

That's the exact one I bought. It would not even turn. I tried it on both clockings. I installed one on my 2.7 Fusion Sport and it fit right in and locked in place easily. So, I'm familiar with the amount of force required to get it on.

As always, more oil drained out and there were some very tiny metal fines on the magnet. After wiping it clean, I inserted the plug back in.

It certainly takes more force to press it in the pan to overcome the wavy washer resistance, but not that much.

I'll try it again on my next change and see if it just needs to be shoved in harder before trying to turn it. That might be the issue. Don't remember it being that tight on the Fusion. I just didn't want to snap the tabs in the pan.

I’m not as strong as I used to be, and it took me a couple tries to push the plug in far enough so I could turn it to get it out.

I'm going to try the vacuum through the dipstick tube for my first oil change to get out most before pulling the drain plug. From the few videos I have watched it looks like it can get messy.

This guy has a pretty cool setup using a vacuum to help keep the oil from going everywhere when pulling the plug. Have seen some other videos with people just using some generic necked down nozzles to the filler neck. Might try that too.


It's a cool setup, but some serious coin for DIY'r

i haved one installed a few miles.. and oil changes i know the hose size is 5/8 ID what type of hose are you using.. did you clampit on the nipple just having a hard time sturning the valve with the hose on.. (BIG HANDS) lol
