I'm just working my way up the ladder, incrementally. I started with an Escort. it got eaten by a bear. I picked up a very used 98 Nissan Frontier 4x4 with the insurance money and really liked it. it had a HUGE solid steel brush guard that made it very bear resistant. Unfortunately, it was more rust than truck and didn't last very long, but it was fun while it lasted. I traded that in for a Focus (cheap but reliable.) Traded that in 10 years later for an Escape (just a bigger focus, really). Now another 10 years later, I'm ready to upgrade and want a truck but want to keep the change relatively incremental and I've always wanted a ranger so there I go. (yes, I could have gone Maverick, but that's more of a sidegrade than an upgrade and it can't tow any better than my Escape.) And as many have stated above, the "bells and whistles" available now would cost a lot more in a full sized pickup. :)

My last 2 trucks have been F150 Raptors. I pondered over it for about 2 months whether to order a 2024 F150 Raptor or a Ranger Raptor. The 2 deciding factors for me were.... I really didn't want to spend $80K on a truck and I take care of my 87 year old dad. He can no longer drive and I have to assist him getting in and out of my truck. So I decided to downsize to make it a little easier for him.
Worst case scenario.... if I don't like the mid size I shouldn't lose much $$ if I decide to sell or trade the Ranger Raptor and go back to a full size.

I've got a 1973 F-250 tall boy, with a lift. Tired of trying to climb up in to that thing, or load and unload it. It won't fit in my garage, my Ranger fits easily. I use it to haul garbage once a week, and the bed size and height is perfect for that.

My Ranger is much easier to handle and park downtown, gets great gas mileage, land doesn't have that awkward "What do I with this space in the middle of the seats? Instead, I can reach across the back seat and still grab whatever.

I went mid size as I don't need a full size truck any more and here in Canada I got my Lariat FX4 with accessories I wanted for under $60K when a similar full size would be $90k+. Heck I didn't even pay that for my house.

Upsizing from a 2022 Maverick because I feel like the Maverick drives more like an SUV than a truck. The Maverick is a well-mannered vehicle, and I've been very happy with mine. I should have simply ordered the Maverick with the 4K/AWD options because I didn't anticipate pulling a cargo trailer. While my Mav easily pulls 2K lbs (and its fully loaded weight is 1500lbs) I just don't want to make a habit of possibly stressing my engine and transmission, hence the upgrade.

The non-driving teen in me from long, long ago has always wanted a truck, and the 2024 fits the bill AND pulls 7500lbs. Problem solved.

I've always had a midsize/compact truck (different generations of rangers) and have never ran into a situation that justifies having a fullsize. Anything I can't fit in the bed fits in a box trailer. Not towing anything that weighs more than a single car on vacation on a flat bed. Honestly, its kind of the best of both worlds, its the size as a compact SUV with a bed, which allows me enough flexibility to go on vacation and also still go on motor trails or park in a parking garage without too much trouble. Oh, and it also fits in my garage, which I see as an absolute necessity.

I can't wait for my Raptor to show up, I really hope it is the zenith of compact trucks before everything goes electric and this can be one last hurrah!

For me it’s not because it’s a midsize but that I have a 2004 FX4 F150 that I bought new. I bought my current truck because I liked it & still like it but it has 151,000 miles & is getting tired. I could afford a F150 Raptor but it’s a lot of money & I don’t really need or want a full size truck anymore. The main reason though is because I was researching a 2023 Ranger Tremor & came across a article saying that 2023 was the last year for that style & 2024 was going to have a Raptor model of which when I saw it was the first time in many years that I said “wow, look at that” so the search began & I was fortunate enough to find a dealer willing to sell me their allocation at MSRP that now has a VIN with a build week of March 11th. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to buy a vehicle & can’t wait to drive it home.

While I'm not ordering the Ranger specifically, I settled on a mid-sized truck because I want something that can fit in my 1980s garage.

I live in Hail Alley, after all. :p
Same reason here. Darn Texas hail!

Full size is too big for me. Don’t need all that space.

For me I just want biggest pickup truck that will fit in my 19.5 feet long garage. Ranger is perfect with 210 inches long. 2024 Tacoma is 213 inch long and is too tight.

I have similar feelings here. My dad has had a couple of Dakotas since I was a teenager. Whether helping him or borrowing it for myself, we've always made it work.

As long as reliability holds up, I'm intending to keep my truck for at least 10 years. I'm betting that by time I'm looking for another brand new vehicle, there won't be anything like the RR's powerplant on offer anymore. That's part of what got me to totally blow past my original budget.

For me even though I am a truck driver… as a personal vehicle I rather have a mid size truck than a full size truck…. It has everything I need.. I don’t like being in big trucks unless it’s my semi because I know I am not going to take this semi into narrow parking lots everyday
