Anyone else noticed the oil pressure shown on the ProCal is significantly different than that shown in the instrument cluster? The instrument cluster shows the reading is in PSI. The ProCal doesn’t list the measurement but not sure what it could be other than PSI. Haven’t seen any options within the ProCal to select a different measurement. At idle where the instrument cluster oil pressure is steady, the ProCal still fluctuates noticeably.

Sorry for the stupid off subject question, but I'm new to all this tune stuff. Do we need to keep the physical device hooked up like you have in your videos ?

No, you don't need to keep the ProCal device connected.

Agreed!
IMO wasting hundreds of dollars because of something you read on the internet is classified as pretty darn stupid.
You know it's also possible to keep opinions to yourself. Resist the urge to reply bud.

No, you only need it to install the tune or swap back to factory tune. Otherwise you can just keep it in the glovebox.

Mobile Ford visited yesterday to address Window Recall and installed my tune. It was the first time they had done it, so I had my WinPC laptop on hand and helped them read/follow the instructions. Took about 30mins.

After a short drive the truck feels a little more responsive, I need to drive it more as my primary focus was the transmission improvement.

The transmission tune is definitely improved, but it still needs less converter lockup, especially in lower gears. It makes no sense to lock the converter in 3-4-5-6, because the transmission is never going to stay in those gears for very long unless you're in manual and commanding it to stay there. The TCM could detect manual mode and do lockups then, if the programmers were so inclined.

They also protected the transmission by increasing torque management between shifts at higher throttle positions. It's not as bad as a Dodge (those things sound like they're farting when they pull fueling and timing between shifts), but you just don't get those positive, snappy shifts I was hoping for.

Thank you. This is the info.

Same here in Brazil. Do you think the Procal won't work with non US Raptors? Maybe a VIN lock?
im not sure. there's a guy here(UAE) that could order the procal/tune from the US and install it, but im not if it will work, it might mess up the ECU if its not the same as US RRaptors. there must be a way to check.

TFL Truck with a tuned RR.

I enjoyed their latest video.
I had to use my office pc since everything at home is apple.
I think there added time issues setting it up were mainly logistics based.
I am looking forward to more testing from them.

I was not real clear on when and where they were installing the tunes, at Andres home, at the track and were they changing it back and forth from stock to performance while at their test track or what they were actually doing to conduct their test.

Overall I tended to agree with Tommy, in his seat of the pants feel of stock and post performace tune. This truck is quick, just never feels as quick as it really is. If you watch the speedo, its always telling a different story than what I feel from the seat of the pants. I think it is just that the truck sets up higher as trucks do which that always makes the feel of speed less noticeable, but also the well-tuned suspension and overall chassis setup I think also lends itself to masking the speed feel.

Overall, I am very happy with the tune.
It always felt a little restricted or like it was being restrained somehow with the stock tunning. Now it seems to have power that flows a little more naturally or somehow just less restrained, if that makes any sense.

I know everyone is talking about the shifting, but so far driving normally around town in normal mode, it seems to be going through a learning curve maybe, I never thought mine shifted poorly so, I am not sure other than in sport mode and WOT does seem really much different. I didn't drive mine much in sport mode so not the likely the best judge on that.

Watched the video last night... I understood their goal of the methodology they used - but it was a bit flawed. Any remap of the ECU/TCU should be followed by some time driving for learning to process. You could see in his post tune pulls that boost was changing each time, and shifts will get optimized too. Also, would have been nice to know fuel being used. I have seen someone do pre tune and post tune dyno runs back-to-back in another video, and the numbers were in line with Ford Performance's estimates, so I think it's worth the money/upgrade.

That being said, your summary about the tune and seat of the pants review all makes sense to me @cc1999

I'm waiting for mine to get installed by the mobile service guys along with the door module recall. They can't get to me until the 22nd, and I don't want to deal with taking into the shop for this stuff logistically. I am fully capable of doing this myself, but they are only charging me $150 to do the application of the cal file, which I am doing so I can register for the 3yr/36K warranty. Cheap insurance IMHO.

So, just curious, does the dealership want you to setup the programmer on your computer or will they store and setup your tuner and files etc on a dealership PC.

That part of the dealer install method has always seemed a bit confusing to me, as to how the dealer could keep track of all those customer files and programs, and would it not be best for the owner to keep this stuff on their PC.

Really just always seemed like it was truly intended by design for the consumer to at least do part of the setup process.

Just truly curious how it works when it is dealer installed.

Not at all, in any way shape or form wanting to further any more warranty discussions. LOL

I don't want a warranty discussion either :D I've avoided that diatribe here like the plague.

By choice after talking with them, I am staging everything on the ProCal device myself. I'll use my FP account and plug it into one of my computers, grab the current firmware, plug into the truck and marry to my VIN and backup my base calibration file, and then upload it to FP and download the updated cal file from them. Then when the mobile tech arrives I'll just have him plug the device in and apply the updated Cal file. He's going to do in my office's parking lot along with the recall for the door modules.

From reading the info that came with my ProCal4, at that point I can either call the toll-free number provided, or email FP with my RO invoice along with my VIN and contact info to register for their additional warranty.
